Ipod Media Interface working on W204
Well after months of pestering I finally got rob from midcity to get the new media interface working on my C.
And its Awesome!... no more squinting at the cluster looking at song titles and trying to work the steering wheel controls. The jog wheel works and everything.. its so nice to use.

I didnt get the bill yet.. that will be interesting. I know they are putting together a kit because there is nothing available from MB right now and there was programming involved.

I know.. I was laughing at him because he couldnt hold the camera straight.. In all fairness I did bug him till he came in today after being out late last night. I guess I should feel bad but I dont care: I have my iPod interface!

I wouldn't get too excited unless you have a lot of money. I asked about this once and it costs more than getting the backup cam equipment and installation (which was like $1,500). In my opinion, not worth the money.

just go off the phone with Mb of atlanta

they gave me this part # A204-870-59-96 For the Universal media interface and then called mb of walnut creek they looked it up and said it was $1685. not including labor. Not a bad price for not getting the nav in the first place. They are doing some research on this and are going to call me back.

i would love to control my ipod through the command KNOB and screen & not have to skip thru each song on the dash... why would you have to bug mid city to develop the project, is it not taking off?

Ive now retrofitted a couple of the UCI (Media Interface) (option 518) to W204, and have written it up for all to enjoy. Procedure is same on GLK as C, and it looks like the new W212 E and W207 E couple will be identical, and all MY09 cars with HDD Comand (NTG2.5) will be almost the same.

Excellent write-up indeed! Do you by any chance have the part nos. for the RHD W204 that you did not mention in the write-up. I would have no other clue how to order them from the dealership and my experience with the parts guys is, if I don't tell them exactly what I'm looking for they won't know what to look for. At the very least they require the VIN of a vehicle with the same setup.

Hiya,
I've added the part numbr for the bracket as it is not specific (thought it was different for LHD/RHD).
You can make the fibre loom out of 2x A211 540 31 32 (OK for RHD car, I think a bit short for LHD car). W204 wiring loom retrofits are a nightmare as they are mostly special order as they are made specifically for a given car.
Im sure the people mentioned in the link in the article will ship one to you in SA.
Cheers
