ATSOBE, engrish isn't your first language is it :p

ok, regarding what you're asking, I did get my ECU update and without doing an actual dyno, I can tell you that it does "feel" more power. The throttle lag is pretty much non-existent and from the limited sample size I've taken thus far, I am getting 10-15% better MPG. FrankW has done the same ECU tune through SI and has said he put it up on a dyno and did see gains. When I do have a chance, I'll put it up also and post hard numbers.

If you need more power buy an AMG C63. Or go with an SLR. That oughta do it.

this is about a mod on the regular w204. why bring up C63 or SLR? what's the point/reason behind that comment? I did not get it.

if you want more power,,,,,, why not get a Dodge viper, why not get airplane? does that make sense to you?

Makes perfect sense. 4 years ago a C320 had 215 hp. I'll bet there were people going crazy trying to spend a couple grand to get it up to 230 hp.

Now the C350 is what, 268 hp? So people still going crazy to get it up to 280...

It's all a stupid chase because 280 or 300 or 350hp is still going to be chumped by a C63 or a Viper or.. something else.

if you are talking about wasting money, that I understand. But I think you use the wrong example. dont you think buying a C63, Viper is also a stupid chase? how fast do you really think you can go on the freeway? probably as fast as a honda civic can go, 70mph.

I think moderation is ok. If you spend $500 and get like 15-20HP, that's not bad. I think it's people that spend $5000 to 8000 to get 30hp, is not too smart. You are paying 1/5 of the total price of your car to get only 30hp.

To some people, modifying cars is stupid, waste of money. Some people also think getting nice german cars like Mercedes is stupid. Why don't you just drive a $10,000 that can get you to point A to B?

So... everything moderation is good. But if you really auto fanatic and just like to modify cars and do them yourself, that's a different story.

Um, well I'm more interested in the change in gas mileage. If you can get 15% better mpg, then this could pay for itself in a few years, and you're doing something for the environment, etc. Better hp just means you have more to draw on if needed, and what you do have is better used, giving improved mileage ....

I think a $450 ECU upgrade, getting 18 hp, 25 lb ft torque is money well spent. but, warranty issue... that no one can guarantee. But MB dealers are shady... they will blame any issue on your mods doesn't matter if they are related or not. It happend to me the 1st week I got my car. A little rock got stuck somewhere underneath the car and was making funny noises whenever I drove slowly over uneven roads. Took it to the dealer, they automatically blame it on my H&R springs and 19" wheels. They did not even take the wheels off to check what the problem is. All they did was test driving the car to confirm there is a noise and said "further diagnosis on suspension is need, NOT covered by warranty". What pissed me off even more is that it took them 2 hours to do just that. Anyway, I took my car back to the shop who install the springs, it took them 10 minutes to find out what the problem is. A little rock got stuck in the wheel well.
So, i guess if you are going to do any mods without having to worry much about the warranty, they probably have to be purely cosmetic (like a little spoiler). Or you will have to find a really good, responsible tuner that will cover your car if anything wrong happened related to the MODs.

Why dont they make a programmer or tuner for mercedes look at link

This is what im talking about it called a programmer or tuner one choose the program they want. You plug it in to your car computer port put the program you want. Then when you go to dealer your plug back in then install your original program. I cant find one for mercedes why is that.
