It's also a safety issue. The headlights will not automatically turn on in fog because there is often enough ambient light not to trigger the light sensor, even though they're needed due to low visibility.

there has to be a way...
the main issue here is I like the fog lights on when i enter parking garages (which I do everyday). the fog lights provide light on the "sides" -- anyway, to have to turn the fog lights "on" every morning and every evening to and from the office is terribly annoying. auto lights are a godsend, and having them turn on with the fog lights shouldn't be crippled!
i think the 1 at a time thing while cornering is only with the p2 package.

Let me know if you find a way to do this. I also like to dirve with my fog lights on, but I love the auto-lights; and I dont want to give it up. Maybe the dealer can reprogram them to turn on on auto?
BTW, i HATE low-cornering fog lights; it looks like you have a burnt light.

1) I want to figure out how to "disable" the corner illuminating feature, as its incredibly annoying. It makes your car look like you have a burnt out bulb everytime you turn a corner.
2) I also would like to have the fogs turn on when the headlamps turn on in "AUTO" mode...

The reason they aren't on with the "auto," is that you're not suppose to drive around with fog lights in normal conditions. Even California if you look it up has a law on this, though I doubt it's ever enforced.
However, this user wanted to use them in a parking garage, which sounds like a good idea.
I just don't think you can do this without going to on and pulling it out.

I don't know about you guys, but after i turn the knob to put my fogs on at night i leave mine on and whenever i shut off the car all lights come off. And same goes to when the knob is in fog light postion when i turn back on the car both fogs and lights pop back on.

In a prior car I did something similar by running a hot wire from the one of the parking light wires to the relay that controls the foglights. You might be able to do something similar. Not sure where the fog lights relay is on the C-Class though.

Did you actually comprehend the question? Turn the knob to Auto then pull it? Doesn't work. Turn the knob to ON then pull it? That turns it off Auto.
Is your point "hey it's really easy just turn it on and off everytime" - ? Cause that's not the point either.
Glad you contributed though!

Its not possible that you will forget. If you leave them own while leaving the car, the visual warning will display along with the chimes (audio warning ) to warn you to switch the lights off.

white and whiter
only when you have the P2 with bi-xenon package.
the "cornering" foglight is just a cheap way of making the projector like the BMW and Lexus that turns when you turn the steering wheel.
the W204 has stupid features.
without the headlight switch on "auto" mode. the security/locator lights doesn't delay shut-off or turn-on when you unlock the door. with the switch on "auto" you can't turn your fog light on and with the "auto" on it does that stupid cornering light thing.

Found this old thread and answer to my long standing question.
I always thought there was something wrong with my fog lights. In fact, the non-Mercedes dealership that sold me the car changed both fog lamp bulbs because they believed one of them was burnt. Whatever Mercedes was thinking, there is only one conclusion from any observer of a single lit fog lamp- the other one must be burnt. Now that I know it is by design, I think it is weird.
Since this issue was discussed in 2008, I wonder of anyone has a found an easy workaround to make both fog lamps come one, or stay off.

What this thread is asking for is physically impossible due to the design of the headlight switch. When set to auto the electrical contacts to turn on the fog lights are physically severed. I've taken apart the headlight switch to see if there is a way to bypass this and there is not. The only way to manually turn on the fog lights is by turning the switch to the right to the "parking lights on" position or "headlights on" position then pulling the switch out one step.
The cornering lights only function when the headlight switch is set to auto. This is on purpose and by design since the cornering light function is automatic. With the switch in any other position the cornering light function does not work.
The cornering light function can also be added to any vehicle equipped with fog lights by the dealer. I believe they just need to enable option code 619 for it to work.
