I have a 2013 and no guide lines.

If I had my car back from the dealer I'd look it up and let you know but I think they are keeping it forever at this point. I think it was around the end of the list and had something to do with off road "ABCD" or "1,2,3,4".

If that was it you will get arrows on the System screen that shows a wheel angle and accelerometer. They are kind of hard to read though, most of the screen is taken up by a picture of the vehicle.

You can also enable a seat control screen and a fuel consumption screen. But neither function.

Ok, is confirmed. My car has steering wheel positioning sensors.
Now the question is why are dynamic guidelines not available?
I am surprised that option even works though, it is for the W166 ML

It is odd that it works. But ultimately it's not an overly useful screen. The data is too small to be of use while driving. I do like it better than that clock screen.

Given the wheel angle sensor with the ILS you'd think there would be a way to connect it with dynamic camera guide lines.

Hmm, perhaps your next project? I wonder if a module could be retrofitted or perhaps there is some coding option? The newer factory cameras are great.

I am going to look around for anything related to reverse camera next time I plug Star C4 up.
The biggest problem with solving this mystery is the lack of info available on it. We don't know if it only works with the OEM camera setup only or it needs to be coded/unhidden with Star or there needs to be some hardware changes that were not available on these MY, etc. I have yet to see a thread regarding dynamic guidelines retrofit being successful.

I have read a lot of people saying that you need to activate ARVC (Advanced RearView Camera) from Eng Menu, but obviously not available for us probably software related.

Yeah, if they completely left that out of the firmware it might not be possible. But then they leave in hidden options for W166 and E-Class vehicles. Did those vehicles in the same MYs have guidelines?

The cameras in the newer cars have better night time images and a wider field of view as well.

I read an old post were someone said they had guide lines at some point but then removed them

Ok, I did some research on CarMax. I checked dozens of 2012-2014 W204 and even 2015 W204 coupes and not a single one with RearView Camera had lines at ALL (even 2015 coupes with ILS). I also looked at E Class and ML's. The ML had dynamic lines since 2012 papyrus NTG4.5 which is also when W166 was introduced. The E Class 2009-2013 pre facelift had no lines at all, but the 2014+ facelift now has dynamic lines.

So at this point it looks like it was left completely out of the W204 or it can only be done through Star.

Really odd. You'd think MB would have done that unless there was some technical reason. I've seen cars going back many years with that feature. Perhaps it's the off center camera?

A little off topic but I switched out my GLA250 loaner today for a W205 C300. The GLA actually has a better camera but the C has choices in how wide of a camera angle you use. Usually manufactures like to keep their stuff consistent. That was about the only thing better in the GLA. The W205 camera has a low frame rate and doesn't perform as well in the dark. But it's still better than a W204 camera.

I am guessing they just figured, why put dynamic lines on the lowly C Class. Now that it is no longer the lowest that being the CLA which has them, they probably just figured what the hell is 2014.
