c350 4matic 0-60mph

I recently tested my c350 4matic's 0-60mph and the results were avg of 7.4s. that's 1.1 seconds slower then the advertised speed. Me and my friend was in the car. I also used the iPhone's dynolicious app to test my peak HP, and has an avg of 161hp. so i am wonder if it is my engines that screwed or something else.

will being in dyno mode help??

if it really is the engine i am gonna warranty it, hoppfully getting an engine swap due to underperforming engine. please shed me some light.
thanks

How did you time it? Was it accurate?

i used the iphone accelerometer to determine that. it's supposedly very accurate. btw the 161hp is whp. also, i did over 50 runs, or half tank of flooring the engine. so it should be rather accurate.

For some reason I just cannot see that being very accurate. Maybe consistent, but it would be shocking if your C350 were truly 1 second off the advertised 0-60. Also, I would think you'd be closer to the 190-200 whp range, not 161whp. Just for clarification, I would try to find an AWD dyno in your area if you're concerned about something being wrong.

IPhone's software is not very accurate. It was tested on another boards and proved to be inaccurate. If you want to really measure you 0-60, you will be better off with GMETER, or better yet take it to the track.

thanks for the replies, and maybe you guys are right bout the times, but the max amount of G's the car pulled was usually less then 0.9, usually in the low .8 range.

cause there's people who said the iphone is accurate and some not. guess i will need to really dyno the car.

Oh man the iphone is not accurate at all with the 0-60 times and the quarter mile times. Our GPS in the iphones don't measure small enough movements to be accurate. That's like the worst way to measure your time! haha Take a stop watch, thats your best bet. (btw i have the iphone and am loving it)

I don't have a C class yet but I have used the Iphone app and achieved the advertised 5.5 seconds that is claimed for my car. So I think it is fairly accurate if you enter everything correctly such as your cars weight and etc.

I have not tried this, and if it measures from GPS, why do you need to enter some car specific data?

Any GPS on a cell phone only updates the location infrequently relative to the need for this measurement. The Doppler based speed measurement is more accurate here than monitoring the location of the car, the application may well use this info but the sampling rate is still far too low. I'd agree with the post micropower.

iPhone uses it's internal acccelerometer, not GPS.

Couple things to consider. If you had passengers in the car, you should be adding up the total vehicle weight I believe. I've never used the iPhone app so I'm not sure if it asks you to do so.

Also, any 4-matic car will have a larger drivetrain loss than a rear wheel drive or front wheel drive car.

dynolicious is VERY accurate...more so than many of the standard, in car "docked", devices out for a lot more money. there have been several tests and comparisons on shows/in mags. obviously nothing will be more accurate than a real dyno but for 13 bucks and the convenience factor its not bad. you just have to make sure its calibrated correctly.

i don't have a ton of time to look for reviews but here's one...take it or leave it, especially from who its coming from.

hmm, i did another run yesterday, this time with a stop watch, and have a 6.7s going uphill. this is really confusing me. i also agree with the drivetrain loss, but will it really result in 40% loss?? but, with or without drivetrain loss, it should still approach fairly closely to advertised 0-100km speed.
and how much diff will there be with 170KG of weight?

170KG = 374lbs That's a LOT of weight

It sounds like you have the iPhone dyno application configured incorrectly

I think uphill is also your problem and the weight is a factor.

According the M-B C Class brochure, the weight difference RWD to 4Matic is 80 kg or 176 lbs.
