TIRES! TIRES!..NEED ADVICE!

So my car has 26,000 miles already and now im searching for some tires. Here is my selection!!!
1.Nitto NT-555 (#152-430)
2.Sumitomo HTR Z III
3.Falken FK-452
I have stagered wheels..18s on AMG rims...
FRONT TIRES
225/40
REAR TIRES
255/35

ANY ADVICE WOULD BE COOL..AS YOU CAN SEE I WENT FOR OK TIRES..NOT REAL BIG NAMES LIKE PIRELI OR MICHELIN.ECT.

P.S
I ALSO SAID SCREW THE SERVICE "B"..AND WENT FOR A REGULAR OIL SERVICE!!!!

If it was me, I would go for the new Pirelli "P-zero", best tire out there

PS: Our R8 had them from factory and after realising what this tires can do, installed them also in my 2 C- coupes and w204, and will not buy other tire any more.

I can't comment too much on the tyre choice but you usually get what you pay for. On advice ,I am going to try the Mihelin Pilot Sport 2 next.

Re Screwing the B service & having a regular oil service , I hope they checked the :-
Brake system, fluid & pads .
Wheels for damage.
All visable parts for leaks & damage.
Power steering fluid level.
Serpentine belt for wear.
Replaced combination filter.
Flexable couplings
Axle joints for wear & rubber sleeves.
Tie rod & drag link joints for play & rubber sleeves.

I wonder how long PZEROs will last on a C300 or C350. It is a great tire in dry weather but it wears quickly.

X3 and 2012 C coming soon
I've used P-Zero Nero M+S on one of my cars and they wore for 30,000 miles. Very even wear and they can be used in colder weather. Another good "budget tire" is General Exclaim UHP. Both perform very well and have high mileage ratings. I get either before Sumitomos or Falkens.

Tirerack has ratings:

Hard to say, since I only had run 3000km on the C's but normaly Pirelli runs out faster than Michelin, but all depends on the driver.
I dont care about wear, since I have the best grip, specially in wet roads and cold weather, one thing that PS2 and RE050 dont like!
In hot weather P-zero can wear out a little faster...

Just look on tireracks website, they have the comparision on P-zero, PS2, RE050 and CSC3

Everyone has different driving habits and situations. The tirerack is a good foundation for a decision, but I would not base that decision purely on those results.

How do you drive? Fast or slow? Do you want dry traction, wet or both? Are you concerned with mileage? Do you want a sticky tire? Does road noise matter? How deep are your pockets?

Go to a local dealer and find out which tires have the highest adjustment ratio, do they offer a road hazard warranty and do they have a possible return policy if your unsatisfied with that set.

Your comment about RE-050A not liking the wet is certainly not my experience.
I fitted RE050A PPs to my C320 and my Porsche and I switched the OE tires (Conti) on my C300 before delivery to RE050As and they are the best rain tire I've ever owned. If one is looking for cheap tires or long tread life, these won't be your choice, however.

BTW, the RE050A is now factory fitted to the M3 and Porsche 997.

If you want the feel of the Michelin PS2, but longer life, try the PE2.

I've got 30k on mine, and have 4-5/32nds left. (probably another 5-7k miles)

Changing from BFG KDW-2s, they completely changed the ride and feel of the car. The improvement in ride was obvious when simply driving the car out of the tire store parking lot.

The ultimate grip isn't what the PS2 is, but how many times are you actually driving at 10/10ths? The feel solid even up to the limit, and they are very predictable (minimal squirm, shift, slip angles when compared to other 'cheaper' tires).

You wouldn't hook your new HDTV up to an old set of rabbit ears, you don't listen to 8-tracks on your Hi-Fi, why put sub-par tires on your Benz?

PS: OEM CS2's and 3 are sh...
I also had RE050 in my cars, and I still have them

Michelin PS2's are supposedly the best....they make virtually zero tread roar when driving. They are $$$ though.

I had Continental Sport contact 3 on my original 17" and now i have the Michelin Pilot sports on my 19" wheels...

I never liked the Conti's on my previous car (W169 with the SC2) and on my W204, but its delivered with Conti's. SC3

The Michelin's are really SUPER TYRES, no regrets for me, they have more grip, they are more quit than the Conti's and with the 19" Michelins my car is more comfortable to drive than with the 17" Conti's.

They are expensive, but they are really good.

I went through my first rear set of Conti's at 13,000 and needed a complete set at 30,000. I just purchased a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus for around $1,200 (shipped).

Initial results appear very promising. Wet weather traction is outstanding and handling/grip is as good, if not better than the OEM Conti's.

Another added bonus... Treadwear Rating = 500! (vs. 280 OEM)

Here's the link:

BTW, I am also running the 18" AMG Wheels (w/ staggered fitment)...

Check the Toyo Proxes 4. Good all around tire and wont kill the wallet.

And FYI

Toyo = Nitto
Conti = General
Bridgestone = Firestone
Michelin = BFG/Uniroyal
Goodyear = Dunlop
Sumitomo = Ohtsu/Falken

While Michelin may own BFG/Uniroyal, they certainly aren't the same in terms of quality!!!! One has nothing to do with the other.
