C220d Estate Avantgarde, Obsidium black, command, factory tint. MB CLK240 Iolith Blue / Pebble-Gone
Very Nice. is that enamel or metallic (obsidium) black. If u have the vision pack i suspect its would be Obsidium which i just ordered, estate, c220cdi avantgarde, factory tint & command (dont know how the front blue windows will look with the dark rear of the car). I'm in sydney hence and with the purchase of my soon to be traded clk240 iolith blue (cadet blue in the States) which is pretty dark i got a water tank (water restrictions in this state), electric pump and a Karcher (Bunnings) brand high pressure sprayer about A$500. Worth every cent give it a once over with the Karcher which takes 90 per cent of the dirt and grime off and then a sponge. I have been using Mothers polish products and find that the car stays cleaner longer with a regular polish. Lately noticed on the net that Zaino car care products have an outlet in melbourne which will deliver interstate and will try their new product $79 a bottle. the leather cleaner is supposed to smell real good also so I will try that as well (theres a car care forum on this site which is very informative and regularly there are references to zaino so will mothers a rest though its real good itself and try zaino for a comparison). the best thing about the water sprayer is that i have never had swirls. having said that, I labored over choosing met black, flat black, palladium or tenorite. what swung it for black, was the split sahara beige/black interior which you can get with the avantgarde (sport).
If thats the scratch in the first lot of pics you posted i suppose they had to spray the whole side of the car. Know the feeling though our stupid next door neighbor reversed into our clk a week or so after we got it.
when i get my wifes black wagon i am going to have the karcher hooked up 24/7 and give it a spray mid-week and a clean every week. Thats the plan anyway.

Nah its flat black 040 and so hard to keep clean. Especially with all the rain.
So the pressure cleaner works? i was thinking of getting a little one just to hose the car down.
I used Meguiar's to wash the car.. didnt get a chance to wax it tho. Have to this weekend i reckon. The problem atm is there is already very very faint marks.. i guess its just having a black car... guess no matter how careful you are you will get them.

With that black car you really ahve to get rid of all the dirt before you start sponging it. get a polish made to get rid of swirls, meguirs or mothers are both good. finally, when shopping for your polish really really make sure that it doesnt leave white marks if you get it on the plastics etc. the meguirs mag wheel cleaner in the pink bottle is also good but i usually give the wheel a scrub with a nail brush or old big paint brush to remove everything immediately i have sprayed the wheel. this will keep your wheels looking brand new.

Thanks for the info Maxy.
Yeah guys its a lot of work, but when its clean it looks awesome.
Yeah i do like the mirrors, and the hooded gauges look pretty decent to in the 09 models.
Just another thing, has anyone tried paint protection? I was quoted on almost one grand to put paint protection that sets hard and provides a wet glass finish.

The new MB paint is already protected , So I think you do not really need to have a paint protection unless where you live where temprature can go high to cook the droping on the car.
But If I were you I would do it considering its a expensive car and extra protection will not hurt.
I did not do it on my current MB as dealer said its not really needed. Paint is already very good. and plus its not that much heat here in Holland that will cook the droping on the car.

Extra protection never hurts but 1000 bucks is alot of cash.
Was thinking i might leave it for a while and see how it goes?
could always get the surface treatment at a later stage.
On the Mazda 6 did you think it worked? worth the cost?

well i do not know if it worked or not. I used the car for only 1.5 years. In my propective it was just waste of money since i did not keep the car for long and also I was not really living near the beach so i hardly saw any bird dropping on my car. if you have that problem in your area and temprature can go up to 30 C + then i suggest do it. Otherwise leave it.

ohh ok.
Well bird droppings not really an issue. Car is almost always parked under cover.
i live in Tropics so the temp is normally always over 33c
Yeah leaning to just leaving it, and doing the wash, polish and wax thing.
I think its just cause its new, so still got that protective feeling over it..haha
