Smile w204 C200K discontinued and replaced by C250CGI

Some "inside" information regarding c200k that most of us think that its still available to order as w204 c-class

C200K will be replaced (in late July/early August) with the new C250CGI

Features:
Still 1.8 litre sized engine like c200k
Twin exhaust instead of the c200k single exhaust
Turbo instead of the c200k compressor
HIGHER POWER AND LOWER FUEL EMMISSIONS compared to C200k
New Direct injection technology
Newer Euro 5 certificate of conformity (instead of c200k Euro 4) Which means lower registration taxes
Engine power of 150KW instead of the c200k 135K. This means over 200 horse power.

Whoever has recently ordered a C200K is highly advised to go back to their dealer to cancel their order and get the new 1.8l C250CGI

I hope this new post of mine is again helpful to you.

Ι also confirm that.

It's common known that C class follows new E class tech and new quality standards,for many years .There is also EU new derective for fuel emmisions the Euro5 vs Euro4,so engines must be replaced to be competetive in the market,and also for lower cost production for all models.

Mercedes W204 lower sales than competitors in basic editions,caused due older techology/technics for a recent design car,plus some quality problems for lower cost.For that reason when blue Efficiency series start available in some market,W204 become more famous.

There will be C200CGI and C250CGI Blue Efficiency ,follow basic Eclass mass release after this summer.There is also plan for C180 CGI Blue effiiciency in W204 extended facelift presented in next year's Frankfurt Show,shared new Eclass tech.

For that reason dealers reports that will be great offer cutoff in prices for exist C200K until engines stock last.

I'm now below $1.80 per mile on the cost of my car, discounting things like fuel, insurance, and etc. Just purchase price. That's not a bad place to be with this car being fairly new (it's a 2008 model).

Doubling the time I'll have had the car, to reach about 3 years, means that it'll be well below $1/mile. Good.

Sure we take a hit on "depreciation", but that was mostly upon driving off the showroom floor. It's a car, depreciation happens. Keep it insured, drive it carefully, and it'll last a good 30 years. That means that the cost per mile could be something like 7 cents a mile .... ;-)

Cost of use,depends on country.After sales service and used cars prices too.But unfortunately as seen in C class history,tech and quality changes following new E class, happened later to all C series since 1994.So older models of same series cost more to owners in all cases.These is bad for Mercedes reputation and did not happened too much to other competitive models like BMW 3 series.Maybe I also prefer other brand next time,since also my current lease car,change technology in less than one year.

This time, maybe real release of new engines in pre.facelift models delay some time,due financial crisis car sales down a lot.But there is also a reason to hurry up to facelift model too,sale more as most new car.

Owning a tried & proven engine & gearbox is good insurance against the unforseen problems in new technology.

My 2008 220CDI may not be cutting edge soon but it gives me confidence in its future reliablity. All the faults have been ironed out over the millions of units that have been produced before mine.

Maybe you're lucky about quality problems.Mercedes past info mentioned,all cars will have Blue Efficiency tech untill 2009 end.
Take note proven engine may break local laws about fuel emmisions.

well either way, in AUS, when a new model comes out or an old model discontinues, the old ones loose value.

Same happens in most European countries too.
Plus the unjustified quality problems for the price sold as new,that's why reputation of Mercedes in some cars segment lost a lot share in market.

I'm not very sure.As I know from service personnel,usually kompressor engines service cost too much after 100.000km. In some models after years use, internal engine noise make the car looks like Italian.

The question is about Mercedes market policy.
EU fuel emmisions standards are changed for a green planet.So Euro5 comes 2-3 years sooner than expected.Car manufacturers knew it,so I don't understand why Mercedes prefered to present a new car like W204 with same techology as older W203 model have.All these against competition main from BMW and Audi cars,which introduced same period eco technology in their cars.Other EU derectives also introduced some new standards in safe like day-lights,Mercedes didn't in W204 till now.
Maybe buyers of C class must always wait facelift models to buy a total car,because all improvements always happened since new E class presented them each time.

At last,today other dealer mentioned,current C230 discontinued too this summer,so great offers expected.I think that means replaced in series by C250CGI Blue Effieciency because looks like same engine power.

C250CGI sounds good I wonder with a lighter engine and 200hp how well this will perform when compared to the c280

E200C-Fully loaded, Obsidian Black, ILS, Panoramic roof and some other bits and pieces.
Is it true that the C250CGI will only be available with a manual Transmission, as it has a BLUE Efficiency label.
I had my C200K since Jan 2009 and will be ordering the new C250CGI in September 2009, delivery Jan 2010 but only if I can get it with an automatic transmission.

Maybe depends on market.
As I know in Belgium there is option to order Blue Efficiency cars with manual transmission,in Suisse not.As seen in first edition leaflet,new E250CGI Blue Efficiency automatic transmission is standard option.

EDIT : I think is better waiting see reports how this car performs at all. Also if C250CGI delivery,delay too much as new in production,I suggest you enjoy your current car,waiting Sept.2010 extended facelift.Usually facelift models are always ready for sale and you can buy more total car.

C250CGI (I4) replaces C230 (V6). Then smallest CGI V6 is going to be 350. Looks like there is no CGI replacement for C300.

Absolutely - Early adopters beware - MB were supposed to launch the W204 with solenoid fired valves - MB are still having noise & reliability problems with the design & launch has been put back again.

Must say, would not be sorry to see the end of the M271 engine.

I don't know who has driven the new 1600cc Blue Efficiency but it's torque deficient & noisy with all that damping removed. I applaud what they are trying to do but not for me thanks.

As I have read C180K Blue Efficiency is not powerfull car with 4 passengers load and travel with speed ,and not made fuel economy in low speeds like traffic in town.

CGI engines with Blue Efficiency technic looks like better ,as also have read about new E200CGI Blue Efficiency,which have total better specifications .

So maybe see a C180 CGI version sometime in the future.

I'm not sure that's right, because every time MB change an engine by a new one, They add power.

(kW tr / min)
200k => 120/5500 (old model)
200K => 135/5500 (actual model)
250CGI => 150/4200

That is standard evolution.

The 200CGI => 135/5250 . That is less power of actual 200K model...

Anyway is not really a big thing. We loose an excellent turbo compressor replaced by a new bi-turbo

Edit: I checked again and maybe your are right C230 disappear from the catalog.
v4 replace a v6 ???. No more 7G in new model... Hummm anyway, is strange strategy.
