Well, in their defense, newer design doesn't equal better design. There are some legacy models that I think look better than the "new and improved" model, at least from an aesthetic standpoint. Like ask 203 crowd if they prefer theirs or the new 204 model design...most of them I bet would prefer the 203. It's all in the eye of the beholder when it comes to looks.

+1 mike, BUT it took MB 5 years before they think the W203 needs a change and ONLY took them 1 year to realize the giant mirror on the W203 was a mistake. LOL

I do like the new mirror, but for the pirce like someone else said it can wait. It is not that I can't live with the old mirror. still I for one still think the chrome part up top on the mirror looks out of place.

just so for comparison (tried to find similar pic lol)

When ask for changing with new ones, the answer was "not recommended" because not fit well, the noise will be similar and fuel consumption. (New mirrors also made to correct this point too).

Also there is other base to screw the new mirrors on the body of the car, in new C versions.

Unfortunately for old owners new mirror design will be standard as fashion too for many Mercedes models from now to the future.Look for example new E class too.
Because they are designed for Blue Efficiency and new mirrors are part of Blue Efficiency .

for me I do not know new mirrors from inside of the car as Visuality if new one is better vision Must Have ! Othervise I insist old design is powerful look like brand name of Mercedes

lol...what?

they're standard on all late 2009 W204s including the C63 across Europe and lots of other countries. it has nothing to do with Blue Efficiency.

They are standard here across all models, In the flesh they look great - I certainly accept aesthetics are in the eyes of the beholder. They are better finished & because of the new design you don't get that micro cracking visible around the flasher lens - but most importantly they stop the cursed wind noise. We did not buy our 204 to go backwards in terms of NVH on our 203.

These mirrors were initially designed for the Blue Efficiency program, but as they worked so well in terms of both design and reduced wind noice they were released for all models (exept US market for some strange reason)

IMO the new mirror looks a lot sleaker and classy than the old elephant ear air brakes.
Sure the new mirrors are smaller and may reduce rear sight compered to the old style, but come on, the old style mirrors are ridiculously big, if someone have problems with rear sight in the new mirrors I think they should have their eyes checked.

It's not on my invoice but you can't order them from MBUSA anyway because Euro parts are not in their database. Further, they are color matched to the car so each color has a different part number.

Just for you, I did some measuring. The dimensions of the mirror itself (the glass, not the housing) are identical to the original except that the vertical measurement at the inner side is 1/4" less. Inconsequential. It's the shape of the housing that makes it look smaller than it really is.

I can't say whether they fold closer to the door but the total distance from the glass to the furthest outboard portion of the housing is 7 7/8" inches folded.

the mirrors seems to look good from a distance, but up close it looks a little bit nerdy? If its not too expensive ill do this to my car. anyone know if the GLK ones fit the same?

Turns out the mirror head is the same as the GLK but the base is different for the W204. Yes, it's too expensive. So are most of the other common mods.
