Is the C300 really a rebadged Chrysler?
Go back and remind him that half of the Lexus lineup consists of restyled Toyotas. (ES, HS, RX, GX, LX)

I really don't care for Lexus anyway, their cars are boring and sterile. I test drove and played with them all, not really excited at all. The hybrid's are way overpriced and and the LS model was found out to be a sham on claims of gas mileage.
This freak came out of the Daimler Chrysler teamwork.
Thank god Daimler and Chrysler have nothing going on together today..

I forgot about the garbage Crossfire, with the MB engine...O M G.
Crossfire = R170
Magnum = W210 station wagon
Charger, 300C etc. same story
put them up on a lift and all you will see are mercedes parts numbers everywhere (most of which came from W210). It was an ingenious way for MB to dump off all their old generation parts & production equipment onto another auto company then sell out once they were no longer profitable. So technically he was right to some degree just in the opposite direction. Chrysler benefited from old MB parts & chassis for a few years but now that relationship is dead so basically they will go back to being real junk
x2 That thing was a piece of crap M-B with a different skin and Chrysler emblems on it. Thank god the almighty M-B never made anything like it and called it an SLK32.

PS: Everybody go open your drivers doors and make sure to take a razor blade and cut out the "Chrysler" part of the "Diamler-Chrysler" information sticker in the jamb if you see it there............it might make the car depreciate a little slower. lol
PSS: I wonder if Maybach owners tell other owners how worthless M-B's are when their cars are secretly built off of old outdated 220 body S-Classes???

The LX program had suspension design derived from the E Class, but the parts are Chrysler's on a Chrysler platform. The transmission was also jointly developed, built in an originally Chrysler plant in Indiana.
I was there.

Sorry. You're a few years back.
Look--the proof is in the pudding--do the following:
1. Drive a C300 and drive a Chrysler. 'Nuff said.
I wish I could say drive a C300 with 100K on it and a Chrysler with the same...but I can't since the 300 is too new, but you can drive a Chrysler with 100K on it, so do that and compare it with a 1999 C230. [Not a typo, C230]
2. Drive a C320 with 100K and a Lexus with the same mileage. (I compared quite a few of the Japanese luxury cars and SUVs before I bought my wife an ML320--there is no comparison).
If you don't notice the difference, then buy a Kia and save yourself some money.

I encourage anyone with free time to look at some off-lease units from Lexus. You'll see what I'm talking about.

The Lexus that I do see at 100K plus, people sold them that I knew for several "reasons", cough *problems* cough, so I can't really make a good comparison.
I know that.........I'm a M-B certified collision repair tech(aka bodyman) and fix many 204s. I won't go into all the shortcuts and cheap parts that "Daimler A.G." is using to build all those non Chrysler super cars. I will say that all of you should make sure to keep your insurance payments up to date because most of the parts on the 204s are one time use due to cost cutting inferior parts(maybe they learned that trick from Chrysler) that are quite pricey. They even found a way to save even more money by just copying BMW's E46 3 series designs and build techniques.
To the OP............did you happen to see Lexus' new little $45k hybrid car that looks strikingly like a Camry? I think it's called a Lexus HS
I saw a fleet of 5 of the test vehicles roaming around vegas with their Michigan manufacturer plates about a month ago. I just hope they continue the SRT-8 in that new Jeep...............and throw the 6.3 AMG motor in it.
