Just my guess... the c350 is last amongst sales compared to the c300 and c230/250. Given that the US has a fair amount of territory that does not have a need for 4matic it probably didn't make sense from a business point of view to bring it over. If this was 5 years ago and money was still flowing freely, you would probably see a C350 4matic in the US.

They do indeed make a C350 4matic...but not for the United States market. Looking at the above posters location of Toronto, he very well may have seen a C350 4matic driving around, because its available in Canada, but not in the States..however much sense that makes.

They don't make a C350 4MATIC in the US because there isn't enough region in the US with enough severe weather for a market large enough for people to purchase a C350 4MATIC over an E-Class.
In Canada, the weather is worse than most of the US, and that's why its available in Canada.

Pretty sure that half of the US constitutes a big enough market - I would have bought the 350 4matic in a heartbeat...
Maybe the reason the 350 isn't selling well in the US is because it ISNT offered in 4M - just a thought

Last year, in Calgary (40 min from Banff) we had the most snow since they started keeping records. RWD with 245/40/17 snows worked perfect %99.9 of the time - thanks to MBs amazing software.
I did run a >1/2 tank gas all the time and have couple sand bags in the trunk.

WHY?
I find it hard to believe that anyone owning an E55 would take it out in snow anyway. The tires are too wide and it's too low in front and would be a poor snow car.
