As otaku mentioned, the patch should be do-able for use on our cars if we could get our hands on the method used to do firmware/OS upgrades. If anyone has had an update done to their COMAND unit (not map updates), please let us know. Extra points if you have the DVD/method of update in hand.

 

How can we get hold of this? This is only available at the dealer right?

Depending on which DVD it is that youre looking for, I may help. Is it the DVD with Map Updates you seek?

Also, will this potential VIM unlock work for w204s not in the US - ie UK/Europe etc?

 

Otak can probably answer this better but I would see a reason it wouldn't work on the Euro models. Same hardware and software for the most part.

For the Mitsus, a map update can also contain a code update ..
Can you provide a recursive directory listing of the files on the DVD ?

What I'm afraid of is applying the VIM unlock to find it locking some features that Euro models have enabled, such as being able to put a location in the Nav when the car is in motion.

Actually I do find Voice update addressing fine while in motion. on my car.

 

Yep. I have a Euro COMAND and can do about anything outside of VIM, including manually putting destinations in the GPS.

 

Agreed. I just want the VIM activated. Not that I use it much but it would be nice to have.
