Tires Michelin
I currently have 58,977 miles on my original Michelin Pilot tires on my C300 4 Matic. They still look good but are making noise now. Also original brakes.

They are the OEM standard Micheling , Staggered 17" for the 4 Matic. I do a lot of highway driving. Now the noise I hear is a light thumping sound , I think it is the wear bars in the thread but not exactly sure. Thinking of getting new tires before something goes wrong. I never had them rebalanced as far as I know.

If you've never rotated or rebalanced them in 60,000 miles, have plenty of thread left, but you're starting to hear a noise, it quite likely is cupping. You should replace them soon, they've done more for you than most, time to bid them farewell.

I would think that a tumping sound, if coming from the tires, would indicate something serious such as a bulge in part of the thread.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I though you weren't suppose to rotate these tires as the rear tires are wider than the fronts.

Just because you can't rotate the wheels doesn't mean you can't swap the left + right tire and re-balance the rims. I would think every 15k miles would be appropriate.. and most tire manufacturers would probably recommend half that, and even more frequently for AWD.
I just checked Continental's website, and they recommend rotating every 6,000-8,000 miles.
Michelin's website also recommends rotating every 6,000 - 8,000 miles.

You cannot rotate staggered size tires, by mistake the MB dealer did once and the wider rear tires were put on the front and when you turned the wheel fully it rubbed on the strut. You also cannot swap side to side due to the directionality of the tires.

2010 c-300 tire cupping issue also
I have the same issue on 2010 c- 300 sport, staggered michelins, it is cupping!
owned it since 11,000 miles now at 41,000 same issues, dealer has road force balanced and aligned already with no change!
Back at the shop,we will see what they say,but will be switching to a softer tire, to absorb the stiff suspension a bit better, and to keep tire surface on pavement longer, this will keep the michelin stiff sidewall and stiff factory suspension combination out of play, which is one of the contributors of tire cupping !
Leaning toward toyo proxes 4 plus !
