I have had a reoccurring alignment problem on my 08 C300 since new...dealer cant seem to fix it pulling to the right. One of my close friends has a 08 C350 that tracks straight...

I had strange alignment problems from day 1 - just keep on your dealership until they get it right. These cars track 100% straight and centered once aligned properly. :-)

PS - check where your "center" of the steering wheel is. I'm surprised that these cars tend to have steering cocked to right/left... every which way from the factory.

Basically, see where the steering wheel's center of balance is -- the best way I can describe it is, you can feel it. If you let go of the steering wheel and the car goes straight, the steering wheel should be perfectly straight (depending on road slope/angle of course for water runoff)....

For a while, my steering wheel would turn back/reset if you let go of it to a few degrees off to the right. I had to bring it back so they could make it off centered to the left instead (erk!!), and then once again for them to get it just right centered....

I hope that helps a bit?

This is a common problem with the W204 & W203 - pulls to the right with the camber of the road in your case. There is as standard fix for this. Run 1 degree more positive castor on the RHS than the LHS.

The opposite applies for RHD cars. Every alignment shop in SA has had this drummed into them by MBSA.

My LHD 2011 C350 4matic has pulled to the left since new - whether in the left or right lane on a highway.
I brought it in to have the alignment fixed - it's still pulling left in the left lane but tracking straight in the right lane.
Maybe they're half-way there, and it needs more of the same adjustment?

Mercedes allows up to two degrees Castor increase on the passengers side of the car to relieve pulling.

If your roads are heavily crowned, then it'll only go straight in one or the other lanes but not both. Since your's track's straight in the right lane, I'd say that they've got your problem fixed.

A picture is worth a thousand words...

As your driving, after making a turn and if your steering wheel ends up in the following position...

... when you release it after completing the turn, then it is centered.

Otherwise, if it ends up turned slightly to the left or slightly to the right, then it is not.

When alignment is done the wheel should be locked in the position in the picture. If they don't do this then the wheel should be realigned on it's spline when the alignment machine reads dead ahead.

On our divided highways, the road slope (camber?) seems the same in the far left and far right lanes (opposite slope). At 120 kph in the left lane, the car will veer out of the lane in 2 seconds - I timed it out of curiosity. I've never had a car that tracks like this, and requires constant steering pressure to the right in order to go straight. (it's really only noticeable above 100kph)

It would make sense to me that after the adjustment, it now requires less pressure to go straight, though I can't tell a difference.
