Exclamation WHITE STAR Flat Badges for W204 SPORT & LUXURY back in stock!

I have resumed production of WHITE STAR Flat Badges. In addition, to address numerous requests, I have also designed a second badge,
an AMG Flat Badge.

Both flat badges are handmade from a genuine Mercedes upright hood ornament, part 210 880 01 86, using the original mount of the OEM part. So, they will fit all cars using this part: C-Class Sedans (only) 1995-present (W202, W203, W204 Sport or Luxury); E-Class 1995-present (W210, W211, W212); S-Class 1995-present (W220, W221), and CLK 1998-2002 (W208). These badges will NOT fit cars not designed to use the Original upright hood ornament, such as the W204 C63 AMG or the W203 Coupe.

Of course, the new AMG Flat Badge appropriately fits ALL AMG variants of cars above. The AMG badge offers enough contrast that it can also be used on cars with the tri-star badge on the grille, thus avoiding the “double badge” duplicate star issue on the newest car models.

The following picture (to right) shows the mount and lock of these badges, used without alteration from the original upright star. This ensures that your replacement flat badge will lock in the hood, just like your upright star. (Not like other flat badges that use funky screw posts with washers and wing nuts that take time to adjust.) It takes just seconds to remove your original upright ornament and replace it with either the WHITE STAR Flat Badge or the AMG Flat Badge. Switch back and forth between your original ornament and flat badge anytime the whim strikes you.

Each badge is autographed and serial numbered. Serial numbers are assigned in the order payment is received.

There currently are 365 serial-numbered WHITE STAR Flat Badges in circulation. The new AMG Flat Badge will start a new sequence of serial numbers, beginning at 003.

Your badge is delivered in 2-3 business days, via USPS Priority Mail, anywhere in the US. Int'l delivery available on request.

As always, I do not talk about pricing at MBWorld. This is to avoid confusion on the forums where I can be more specific off line. If you are interested, simply click on my e-mail address below my signature, and send me an e-mail. I will respond promptly, as always.

It occurs to me that some of you might not know the history behind my products here at MBWorld. So, I will post a link to one of the previous threads that proved informative and popular throughout the years. This link includes hundreds of photos of the WHITE STAR Flat Badge on various cars. Naturally, the majority of the pictures on W203s are further down the history of 320+ posts.

Weather warmed up enough to take a couple pictures of the new AMG Flat Badge. First two pics are of my W203, followed by a picture on a W211 E63 AMG.

Here are a few pictures from the archives of the WHITE STAR Flat Badge on various cars.

For those of you W204 SPORT owners with the standard plastic badge on your hoods, you should start to see some fading in the Blue Laurel Wreath enamel on this plastic part soon. The same badge on my W203 faded within 18 months of new. Notice how the standard plastic badge fades in color and chips the enamel paint (lower right)...

Please keep in mind that my White Star Flat Badge (and the AMG Badge for that matter) has the Lacquer silk screened Laurel Wreath... this will not fade over time.

Not to mention that these badges are smaller and made to sit FLUSH within the divot currently hidden beneath your 2 1/4" plastic hood medallion. As you can see from the picture below, the hood divot beneath your badge is exactly the same as on the W203 model that came before. It's just hidden by the large diameter plastic badge that covers it.

Badge installation takes seconds without any tools. Three simple steps on a W204...

In the past, a few people made a constructive observation, wishing that the WHITE STAR insert were more "three dimensional," standing out more from the rest of the badge.

So, when I found the new factory, I remembered this and went back to the drawing board to push the limits of vertical relief that could be had in the metal WHITE STAR insert stamping.

A comparison between the original design (badges 003-365 - left) and the inserts used in current production (right) is noted below. There's now more depth in the parts.

The post above shows a picture of a new design with more depth in relief. There are lots of pictures of the original design on cars in the older threads, but I would like to see some new pictures of this new design on people's cars.

There now are nearly 50 of the new design in circulation. At least 10-15 of these belong to W204 owners. Can you folks post some pictures, please?

Occasionally I get this question in e-mail, but three people have asked about it this week alone. So I thought I would clarify here.

You do NOT have to be a member of MBWorld.org in order to purchase one of my badges. All Guests and members are welcome to inquire.

Some of you have written to ask if my badges fit the W204 Luxury sedans with the solid Chrome style base mount. The short answer is YES. My WHITE STAR Flat Badge will fit all variants of the W204 sedan (both Lux and Sport), but they will not fit the C63 AMG.

In technical fact, the polished face upright hood star mount on the current C-Class cars was introduced on the S-Class (W221) in 2006, and carries an S-Class part number, #221-880-0086 (the “221” part of the number means it is for a W221 S-Class sedan). So, (technically) all current C-Class Lux sedans have an upright hood star from the S-Class.

However, this is a simple adaptation of the Laurel Wreath Upright Star that came before (Pt# 210-880-0186), which first appeared on the W210 E-Class in 1996, and all subsequent C-Class cars (W202 and W203) until the current W204 appeared. You’ll notice that the diameter of both stars is the same, and the mount that is below the hood is identical for both badges.

Because I manufacture my WHITE STAR and AMG Flat Badges from the W210 upright, my badges will fit all the Mercedes sedans that use these two Upright Star styles, including your W204 Lux, and the W204 Sport, once the stock flat badge is removed. Compare side by side photos of the Upright stars and their related flat badges below.

If you are asking which upright star fits your car, either one of the upright stars pictured in post #9 above will fit. My flat badges are made from pt# 210-880-0186, which is one of those in post #9... It fits your car, too. ALL of these use exactly the same mount. HTH.

Folks, there are several of you who have installed my badge on your W204 Sports. Won't you please post some pictures?

Among all the current production Mercedes Benz sedans, I feel my badges go best with the W204 Sport. Compared with the large, plastic, factory badge that sits up in the airstream, my smaller, more sedate badges sit down inside the divot on the hood, creating a sleeker appearance, while emphasizing the large star in the grille.

My badges are made from the stock Upright hood star that comes on most sedans. I remove the upright star and mill away its mount, leaving a cavity into which I attach my custom WHITE STAR insert. I do not touch the Blue Laurel Wreath area in any way, so it remains blue. Changing colors to black (or any other color) is not possible.

Several people with WHITE cars have my WHITE STAR on their hoods, and think the white in the badge is a good complement for the car color. Rather than think in terms of black, perhaps you could think in terms of WHITE? It will look wonderful on your W204...

If collector's serial numbers mean anything to you, and you:

1) want a WHITE STAR Flat Badge with a serial number at or below 450,

2) or an AMG Flat Badge with serial number at or below 50...

please contact me soon at the link in my signature below.

Those of you with White Star Flat Badges on your W204 C-Classes are in a rather exclusive group.

Presently, there are just a dozen of you with my work on your W204 hoods.

As of today, there are 467 White Star Flat Badges in circulation, leaving just 33 more to go before the 500 milestone is reached. I will continue to make these until I run out of parts, which should take it to about 675 badges.

However, I have not decided whether to continue numbering these after the first 500 are sold.

In either case, if serail numbers mean anything to you, you should plan to contact me soon if you want a White Star Flat Badge numbered 500 or less.

Next AMG Badge to be sold is Serial #52. By anyone's measure, these are rare, indeed.

There's still time to acquire a White Star serial number below 500. The most recent sold is #476.
