what precautions to take when welding x-pipe?
Hey, thinking of installing x-pipe on my c300; when I'm ready to weld the pipes, what precautions must I take, if any. Should i disconnect the battery, will this affect the on board computer in any way.

TIG or Gas weld. TIG is superior - Make sure you earth the pipe close to where you weld. You don't want that sort of power trying to run through the car's circuitry.
If you disconnect the battery you really need to connect a quiescent power device prior to doing this to keep the car alive & prevent having to resynch everything. Also reduces the risk of blowing a SAM.

I think you got two opinions because lifting the battery earth strap is not necessary if you gas weld & is if you high amperage electric weld.
If you disconnect the battery without providing a small power source to the car you will have to resynch many things like windows & sunroofs etc. See stickies on the 203 forum for all the things it effects. 204 is similar.
Also - if you disconnect the battery be careful & equally careful reconnecting. No shorts, sparks etc or you will blow a SAM.

AZN is right, you don' need to disconnect anything or the battery. I just got the x-pipe installed on my car on Monday and everything went perfectly fine so just take it to the muffler shop and tell them that you want the x-pipe installed and that you want the resonator out and Im pretty sure they will know what to do.

WHEN I PURCHASED MY 2010 C300 4-MATIC; TO MY SURPRISE IT HAD SPECIAL EDITION MATS IN THE CAR, ALSO NOTICED THAT RIMS WERE DIFFERENT STYLE AND THE FRONT LIGHTS WERE SMOKE COLOUR FROM FACTORY.
DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THESE ARE THE ONLY DIFFERENCES?
