18" C63 AMG Rims: Aggressive All Season Tire Needed

So my tires on my 18" AMG rims are a total joke in any kind of snow. I dont want to buy other rims or buy full on snow tires cause I rarely see the stuff, but I can't go anywhere with the Pirellis on. Any advice on aggressive all-season tires that will fit the 235/40/18 & 255/35/18 spec?

I have the same 18" AMG alloys on my C220CDI in the UK. We don't see Snow or Ice very often in cornwall SouthWest most tip of England, But the standard fitment of Tyres out here are continental sport Contact 2 or 3. They do seem to perform well in ICY conditions, but due to width of the Tyres and a rear wheel drive car, they are not going to do brilliantly in the Snow. I would go for Winter tyres If I had consistent Snow and keep a set for summer months of normal tyres.

Seems like those tires are only available in the UK. Any other tips for this side of the pond?

The handling was poor enough however, that I canceled my trip here this weekend. I don't think you can get great snow traction out of many all season tires, but the overall performance I've had out of these so far is great.

I agree with you, and would not stay on these all winter. In fact, I am about to swap out to my Blizzak WS60, but given his constraints of one tire for all year, I thought this is about the best he could do.

+1 ... just used mine in a foot of snow... it was decent traction.. i have a huge incline that had about a foot of snow on it, i made it out

they clear the main roads quickly, so for extended driving the roads are clear, they do just fine making it around the backroads.

None of these are great in winter, but check the Tire Rack results. There are only three tires with green ratings all the way across, including snow and ice:

Check out the link two posts above....Conti DWS did very well....P Zero, almost one million miles of driving experience in the survey showed not so well. If not Conti DWS, the Pilot Sport A/S Plus is the clear other choice. I took Michelin due to overall quality and performance experience.

c350 Sport
Do not run ContiSport 3's in the winter. After just a little snow and some black ice, my C350 barely made it out of the neighborhood. Literally. I had to find an alternate way to get my car back into the garage because of the slope.

I just got Michelin Pilot A/S Plus for Chicago winters. Traction improved, but increased road noise as a downside. If you only have a few bad snow days a year, A/S is the way to go. The Michelins are rated for 45K miles. Not bad for the price. If you don't know how to drive, then maybe snow tires are for all you suckers stuck on the concrete pad called New Jersey.

On that note, I have for sale [4] ContiSport Contact 3's with 7K miles on them. Send me a message for more info.
