which stock rim on C300 do you like more? 08/09 or 10?

borrowed some pics online:

US MY08/09

US MY10

I have a 08. When I first saw the five spoke one (stock on 10 C300 in US, but it was stock on C300 in Canada since MY08) online when I bought my car 1.5 years ago, I thought it looked much better than the 7 double spoke one I have. But later I found the five spoke style is way too common on road. Even a base pontiac G6 with plastic wheel cap has similar design. The 08/09 7 double spoke, on the other hand, looks quite unique.

G6

So which one do you like more?

I like the MY08/09 rims, but it is horrible to clean them!
The newer rims definitely look less time-consuming to clean, but very plain.

BTW, the 7 spoke rim is SO HEAVY! The 5 spoke one seems to be lighter? It may cut the 0-60 time by 0.1s LOL

Hmm correct me if im wrong but i thought those 10' rims were for the Luxury W204s while the 08/09's were for the Sport W204s ?? Regardless from the first day i got my C i knew i would switch out the wheels .... took me about 2 years to finally decide on the ones i did get and i couldnt be happier

The 5 double spoke 17's are 23 lbs ea (I bought some take-offs as spares, and weighed them).

If they are 10 lb lighter than each 7 spoke, then you save 10 lb scale weight and about 5 lb "rotational inertia" weight per corner, for 60 lb total (*).

I found a rough equation for 0-60 times, based on weight/hp ratio. The 0-60 times predicted by this are not as accurate as any calculated differences due to weight or hp changes.

0-60 time = .32 W/HP + 1.7 sec

assume 228 hp, and 3700 lbs with light wheels, 3760 with heavy wheels.

for 3700 lbs, 6.89 sec
for 3760 lbs, 6.98 sec

difference is .1 sec ..... good guess!! (for a 10 lb difference).

------------

(*) 5 lbs rotational weight saved is 50% of static weight saved. This assumes the wheel is 70% of tire dia, and assumes the maximum effect of lighter wheels, where weight saved is all at the rim OD (size).

.

I doubt very seriously the 7 spoke is much if any heavier than the five spoke wheel. I guess we may need to hear from someone that can wieigh a 7 spoker for us.

I agree ... they could be lighter. 10 lbs was used to get .1 sec. Seven spoke owners put down your guns .

I don't like either of the rims... it's not that they're ugly but neither compliment the lines and shape of the car. Mine is an 09 and I have the MY10 rims on my car but only use them as winter tires.

IMO, the MY10 5 spoke looks better. The MY08/09 7 spoke rims kind of look like hub caps.

2010 C 300
Too many spokes with the 7 spoke for me. I am a 5 spoke guy. When I first started looking at the 2010 C300 I tried to find the basic car in black with the manual tranny. For $33k minus dealer discount it would be a great car for a daily driver. In the end I got sucked in by the dynamic handling package with the 18" AMG wheels and of course the MM package.

I prefer the looks, ride, and durability of the OEM wheels on the C350. 17" 6 twin spoke AMG.

Hell Yeah!
I had plenty of choices but I really liked the AMG 17" rims.

That's what I have too. At first all I could think about was what to replace them with, but they are a really good looking wheel and much nicer looking then the others. I just wish they were taller and wider (say, 19X9 and 19X8).

I'm not a big fan of either, but would way prefer the 7 when compared to the 5.

Does anyone know if the c300 luxury rims are the same proportions as the c300 sport 7 spoke? If so, I'd love to do a direct swap for those
