2012 C250 Coupe
Wow, good to see that they can produce engines like these... Really excited about the 3.5L which will definitely make it into the C-Class. I am not so sure about the 4.7L engine though, that seems more destined for the E-Class and above... I wonder if they are going to do the same thing for the 6.3L AMG engine?
And I'm not sure if anyone noticed, but HOLY TORQUE in that 4.7L, way more then the 6.3L AMG engine... I would take torque + fuel economy over raw HP anyday for a DD.
I wonder if they will start to call them E470?

this article talks about the engine they are going to put in. Its the same engine as the BMW 135i. A 3.5L direct inject, and twin turbochargers!

this article is on the convertible coupe. Looks Real nice. I don't know how accurate this info is but it's from insideline so I expect it to be pretty good

Given how draconian the 2016 mpg/CO2 regulations are, its a miracle that engines like this are still going to be available. The weights on these cars have to come down too.
No info here on how they are going to keep the intake rails from fouling in these DI engines - there were posts here that the engines would carry a cleaner resevoir that had to be periodically refilled.
The downside is - if start/stop is standard, I won't buy it. I won't buy a car that shuts itself off when its stopped, then restarts the motor.

Its a complicated system - the AC compressor has to be electric now, you need a sensor package to figure out the piston positions at shutdown so the spark sequence can restart it, and you need a starter motor that is 50x more reliable then you have now - because you start the car 50x more, expecially if you live in a metro area with alot of lights and stop and go driving. Why bother? This feature adds just a fraction to the EPA city rating, and nothing to the highway rating. I'd rather see the engine tuned for a little less power, and a little more MPG, then to have this feature.
