perhaps it was the ambient weather that contributed to it?

or prolong periods of night driving?

I just installed mine and the heat that generated from the stock bulbs nearly burned my skin off, compared to the led (which were cool to the touch after about 5 mins of being on) how'd they burn the plastic housing? How long were they on?

2nd it's unusual for an led to burn out so soon could it be a blown fuse? That's happen to me b4.

Did you forget to NOT plug the bulbs in all the way? You have to pull em out a little bit so that the resistors don't touch the voltage plate. They only heat up if the voltage plate touches the resistors, and from what you're describing, I'm guessing you pushed em in all the way :/ It's been gone over many-a-time now. But talk to Michael. I think he might be able to work something out with you regarding replacing the bulbs, but the melted sockets, that would have to be blamed on user error.

yeah, there should have been zero chance of these melting the socket if installed correctly. You can even handle touching them with your fingers while on which if they got that hot you wouldn't be able to. However, as mentioned before and also mentioned in the instructions packaged in your order, if installed too far in, all bets are off as they will super heat.

Pm me your info and I will take care of you with replacements.

Thanks so much Mike for all your help, and for quickly refunding my second accidental payment (doh!).

To everyone else, I will soon upload pictures of my LED setup. 8000k Eyelids, 8000k sidemarkers, red LED turn signals, white LED reverse bulbs, 5000k LED license plate. And 5000k LED footwell.

EDIT: Actually, here is a picture I have on this computer from about a week or so ago. Only one LED is working in the eyelid in this picture. My brother swapped around my LEDs when I got my sidemarkers done and pushed them all in too far in the eyelids and I have been having problems with all of them now (it actually looks kinda cool with a fade effect in person). But Mike took care of me (great warranty and support!). But moral of the story is, make SURE you install them right. Save mike money from having to keep warrantying LED, and save you time and aggravation. If the LED is HOT to the touch when installed, pull it out a bit (you will know within a few seconds...)

AZN Optics 5W5 Canbus LEDs-img_0370.jpg

The sidemarker isn't as bright in person and matches the eyelid. In this picture the eyelid looks a bit more "purple" than my sidemarker, but that is because of the Lamin-x tint on my headlights. In person, you don't really notice this though because they are so bright.

bought this led 10 months ago, 2 leds stopped working after about 10000 KM
it should work at least for 50.000 hours.

anyone experience the same problem?

50,000 hours is clean room environment, but there's no accounting for external factors such as odd voltage surge, corrosion, or install issue. Either way though, they should last longer than 10 months. Take out the LED and take pics of both sides and email to aznoptics@gmail.com and I'll see if I can see the issue. Also include in the email your address, the color of the LED, and your username and I'll shoot you out a replacement.

Anyone have the led's in the brake light? pix or video would be great.

There should be a video posted on the brake lights.

As for the front turn signals, I actually have played around with the bulbs, but it won't be a simple plug and play solution which is something I stress with my products. Even though the LED has built in resistors, it just means that it won't throw errors. However to get it functional, you'd need to splice in load resistors due to the headlight assembly control unit.

Is it possible that vibrations from driving could cause the LED to shift in the socket? Either that or the 90+ degree humid heat wave that hit the Midwest last week caused one of mine to burn out. I've had these in my eyelids since February, and I was very meticulous installing them, with the other 3 still working just fine. I would imagine that if I installed them incorrectly, they would have burned out long ago?

I'll send you an email in a little bit.

How did you get the LEDs to fit? They are too long for my 2011 c300.

I had no problem getting the LEDs to fit there. Just plug and play. I have an '09 and I'm pretty sure there isn't a difference from the '11.

Did you plug the LED in far enough?

As mentioned in PM, if the resistors come in contact with the voltage plate, they will super heat. You can easily test this by plugging them in too far on purpose, turn them on for a couple seconds then turn them off. Feel the LED. It'll be scorching hot to the touch. That's not normal temps. Let it cool off, then pull them out to a proper install point. Turn them on for a couple seconds again and turn off. Feel it again. It'll be significantly cooler to the touch. Still hot, but not scorching hot. Even then, we've ran some tests and they can withstand the extra heat generated from this over insertion at ambient temperatures. This is why for most, the plate lights have no issues, even though some come in contact with the resistors. However, if say they're in the eyebrows where there are two of these bulbs plugged in generating heat coupled with the low beams, area temps tips the scale. I know you were experiencing 100+ degrees for a bit while these were on which might have been the tripping point as well is my guess. Either way, you have a warranty replacement on the way

Unfortunately, this is a common issue with open circuitry LEDs as we're exposing the circuit. I've consulted with other LED vendors at trade shows and that's an issue that they have as well. This is why I include instructions in my packages warning of this.

In a continual effort to improve our products, we're working on testing new designs with end caps that physically restricts over insertion issue. This however presents a couple challenges. One, it adds production time and costs as we're introducing another unit and extra labor steps. Two, it adds 11mm in my latest test prototype which makes it too long for 80% of other 194 application on 204s. The only way to shorten the length is a complete circuit redesign which engineers and I have been working on. It's not a simple task, but we're working to improve our product to safeguard against this installation risk.
