Hey guys, I have finished installing a back camera on my 2010 C300 with MM package. Thank you guys for the help.

for people who might wanna know, Things I used:
1.kenwood back up camera,
2. antenna adapter,
3.RCA female plug

If you are like me dont want VIM, you dont need to pay extra dollars for the interface.

And here comes my question: when I pulled out the head unit, I found there was a cable connected to the AUX VIEDO port. This is something never been found in 2008 or 2009 model. And I am sure that is not the prewired cable for the back camera.

I decided to leave it alone and plug my own cable into Aux Video port. And the camera works well.

But I still wanna know what exactly the prewired aux video cable is for. Does anyone have any idea?

Some information I think might be related: 2010 C300 ,US model, MM package, Factory Ipod, Lojack.

hmm i remember seeing a black wire next to the Green port, idk what it is i thought it was for the ipod interface but not sure. all i know was it was in the way >=( lmao

But the one I saw was plugged into the green AUX VIDEO port...
I replaced it with the back up camera cable. So far, everything works well.

The prewired Video cable isn't for the backup camera... I dont know what it is for.

There was a post sometime ago that suggested that the 2010's were pre-wired for the back-up camera, as this is now an option. If the wire you saw was not for the camera, what else could it be for? If it is for the camera, where does it terminate? Roger

I saw that thread as well.
I tried to find out where it terminate. But could not eventually figure out. It goes into the compartment.

I dont think it is prewired for the back-up camera. I worked on the trunk and did not find any prewired cable. I ended up runing the my own cable from trunk. And I replace the prewired cable with my own RCA-FRAKA cable.

That wire is connected to the same output to your compartment where ipod output is, this is for the AUX wire in ur compartment to play video.

its kinda tricky, but the 3.5mm audio jack actually can do video output, i also have 2010 c300 w/MM, and i use that to play my ipod video with audio and video out

correct.. when the W204's do not have backup camera but do have UCI then the 3.5mm jack routes video to the comand using the same green fakra plug... on those cars there will be a video aux option enabled under the video menu. (of course you lose this when you enable backup camera)

In order to connect a backup camera would it be easier to access the video connection in the glove compartment, instead of taking the radio out?

was there a pre-wired cable in the trunk for the camera? if you could you provide some pictures of details how to go about finding it.
i have a 2010 c300 with the multimedia package (GPS,dvd,ipod intergreation on glove box etc).

i dont have a back up camera.
in my glove box there is the input custom plug in. my car came with a cable that hooks up to it. it has both a ipod cable and a 3.5mm i haven't been able to get video from it. i do have the option to switching to aux. However when i play a video from my 80gb ipod classic i only hear sound. i also have an iphone 4, iphone3g and first gen ipod touch.
how do i get video here? anybody please help
do i just need a regular 3.5 mm cable to do this. if i got this to work on an ipod i could do the same with a tv tuner no?
