Performance mods that don't void warranty

What I am saying is that dealers have an incentive to work on your car under warranty. Warranty work usually pays better than client work, and the dealership knows you will authorize the work (if it's free to you) and they will get paid by MB. If you have a good relationship with your dealer, they can try to submit your repairs for a warranty claim. If you have an aftermarket exhaust or whatever, they might look the other way. It's up to them what they submit, and up to MB to approve or deny the repair.
That said, Mercedes can void the warranty for pretty much whatever they want. From the attached document:
DAMAGE DUE TO ACCIDENTS, MISUSE OR NEGLIGENCE: Accidents or damage from objects striking the vehicle. Misuse of the vehicle such as driving over curbs, over- loading, improper operation, storage or transport (Proper use is described in the Operator’s Manual).
DAMAGE DUE TO ALTERATIONS: Alterations by changing or adding to the vehicle can adversely affect its performance, relia- bility and longevity and are not covered by this warranty.
It's up to them.

Mod with your eyes open...
The dealership was literally holding the 55 hostage if I didn't pay them the diagnostic fee of $1100 (all labor)...they did a tear down of the engine. The SA called me on his cell phone and told me that I needed to write the dealership and tell them that I did not authorize (no signature from me) the tear down and that before they did that they should have gotten my permission. He told this to me on the down low behind the service manager's back.
To this day they MB has not definitively told me the cause of the engine damage. I got the car back and had the block rebuilt for just under $10k vs MB offering me a "deal" on a used block for $17000 NOT installed.
To the OP, I agree with Speedriven about keeping a good relationship with your SA. They may look away or give you a pass on certain things BUT I am guessing if the warranty repair exceeds certain parameters (I.e. Cost) it is out of their hands.

It's all subjective and depends on your SA.
Technically, they dealership should no void any part of your warranty unless they can prove the aftermarket item caused the part in question to fail. However, what they say generally goes, unless you fight them. In the end, it's not worth the hassle. See what their stand on mods is and go from there.
