New Volvo S60...what do you guys think...honestly
I have been reading and watching countless reviews on the new S60 T6 with AWD and I am quite impressed. I have NEVER been interested in Volvo but this new one is hard to dismiss. It basically has two things that my C350 doesn't that I really want in a sport sedan...300 hp and AWD. I think that this car will change a lot of impressions that people have of Volvo. I am not crazy about the exterior design but it's sleek enough although not sexy like the C. The interior though is light years ahead of my 2008 C350. And get this...free maint. for 5 years!!! Anyone drive one of these yet? What are your thoughts?

Did not drive, but sat in it for a while at a dealer. I like the exterior, but thought the interior was disappointing for touch and feel. It looks good in a photo, but up close the plastics and elephant hide grain made me feel as if I needed to wash my hands. Trunk access is limited by the styling, and with only run flats and the same ridiculous loss of any place to store a spare tire if I swapped back to non-RFTs, and being automatic trans only, I lost any remaining interest.

I do not care for the interior either.
Furthermore, I prefer a RWD car, not one primarily FWD.
However, I do not dislike Volvo completely. I think they have really good cars, it's just often there is something else I'd pick first (probably Mercedes).

I had my hand on a bright red 2004 S60R with a six speed manual, GOD I LOVED THAT CAR! Every time I see one now I just kick myself. I just couldn't get them to the price I wanted to pay so I wound up with my 2004 C230, which I also loved.
If I were to shop Volvo now, I'd prob take a look at the XC90 if I were assured that the new Volvo owners are not cutting corners and watering them down.

My next car is going to be a crossover so I may cross shop the XC60 with the GLK, that 300 hp T6 is supposed to be an awesome engine and fuel-efficient.
Both S60 and XC60 were developed befored Geely I think so that doesn't worry me so much.

That is interesting, now I really want to go look at one. The interior looks great in photos which can sometimes be misleading. The seats look much more comfortable than ours. I have a love-hate relationship with my C's seats...there are time when I just can't get comfortable and find myself adjusting them constantly. I'm OK with a good auto now after driving my C, all of my other sporty cars have been manual though. I really wonder how the S60 handles? The reviews that I've seen make it look like it would do circles around the C with the torque-vectoring type AWD.

It's not that I don't trust the product..it seems like a great car. I just wouldn't wanna give my money to the Chinese auto industry.

I've driven the XC60 T6 and GLK350. The Volvo does drive nicely, although I didn't think it drove better than the GLK350 and I liked the GLK350 a lot more as a whole vehicle.

Have you seen the sedan? One of the most awkwardly proportioned, tacky looking cars on the road..
I hate Subaru..nothing they make is appealing.

The WRX mod availability does seem extensive, but it remains a strikingly conventionally proportioned vehicle, trying to carry off performance cues. Look at the long front and rear overhangs, stiff tumblehome, lack of body side character, and the relationship between the windshield touchdown and the front spindle. This is actually a very conservative, conventional, old proportioned vehicle, with some boy-racer add-ons such as the wheel well goiters, hood scoop, and large rear spoiler. De-trimmed of that, and with a more purposeful grille vs the random shaped edges, it actually takes on the character of an old Corolla. Still can't find the sexy.

IMO, the new S60 looks HORRIBLE. My #1 (picky) gripe? What's with spreading the giant letters V-O-L-V-O across the boots in all the new models? Blegh.
Previous S60R was the perfect balance of style w/ aggressiveness. My other car is an XC90, so I'm not a Volvo hater. Also, Geely is not stupid and will not alter the Gothenburg ideology, IMO. Too much at stake if Volvo's image of being the world's safest brand is tarnished. Time will tell, though.
