Hello everyone,

I am fairly new to this forum, but mostly cause i'm a lurker so I read and read behind the scenes.

I have come to respect a the lot of you due to your knowledge and careful consideration you have for your vehicles. (you don't let them rot per say)

I have worked hard to get my very First MB. I am the first in my family to actually own one, gives one the fuzziness. Due to loans and all i have to pay i may not have enough left every month to do all the mods but one step at a time.

I bought a c-300 sports 09 it has a 6spd tranny most i hear are 7 speed.
its at 37k i already did two oil changes, I bought it at 26k did the first one at 27k did the last one at 37k last week . I did those myself. (DIY)

I have read about the tranny flush but most concerning the 7spd transmission, should i perform the same at 39k myself? its a 6spd, if so what are some of the experience people have. I want to be smart and not let myself be taken for a ride.

Also I have an appointment with Ray Catena about noise when you steer the car from a stop. Clack clack clack. more prominent when going in reverse and you steer.
I have read that it might be due to the bushings being worn and a lot have said this is to be a warranty repair, but i want to be certain, so the service dept won't pull a fast one.

I love my c-300 soft gentle but tough when you need it.

Heres a kicker though i have not found anywhere else.

When i turn on the defogging for the rear window my FM radio goes static. It has Satellite Radio but i never bother with it (didn't activate it when i bought it) it only does it for the FM radio when the defog is on, so when i have to use it i just load Pandora and not bother with it, but has anyone had this occur?

Last thing, seeing how everyone is able to personalize their vehicles and the with the excellent tutorials available i have made a list of which i shall try as time passes by.

Leds for the eyes, interior and licence plate, AZN
HIDs maybe from DDMtunning

need new caps for the rims, and more

you know what sucks though, the snow storm we had, build up ice on the bumper and when i was backing into the driveway it cracked the bumper from the bottom lip its not noticeable when looking straight but I need to replace that, hopefully this summer i can get it fixed and the car re polished since the last owner was not careful with the paint. (its black on black so scratches are more noticeable) My body shop guy will assist me with the paint and won't charge me to fix it, hes very good with luxury cars. I have been a customer for him for a while.

This little benz landed in good hands, I will miss my other car since i went from a 98 Honda to an 09 C-300, big leap :p and will continue to work hard and hopefully pass my car down the same as how the Honda was given to me.
I still have it, Don't want to sell her :p (I drive it around sometimes)

so AZN DDM i'm going to be looking in the near future for some items.

Thanks everyone

Welcome to the forum or should I say nice to see you posting lol . Congrats on your new car . I'm not sure how important the tranny flush is but I wouldn't skip it though .

Yeah that noise is definitely the bushings, I had that done to my car 3 weeks ago under warranty so if your car is under warranty too you shouldn't have to pay anything.

The 7-speed is the automatic which has different maintenance requirements from the manual trans. Your manual will tell you what they are.

The noise is indeed the thrust arm bushings and coincidentally, my car's were replaced two days ago, both sides, the right side for the second time. It is warranty and there is a TSB covering it.

Here's a kicker though i have not found anywhere else.

When i turn on the defogging for the rear window my FM radio goes static. You have a warranty claim

You think Ray Catena is a stealer? I have never gone to him for service, as I live on Long Island, but he gives GREAT deals on cars -- at least to me... Haha.

Anyways, I believe most of your questions have been answered above already. Besides for the FM static. I have never heard of this issue before. I would bring it in and mention it to the dealer. It would be covered under warranty if there is any issue (I would assume).

As far as mods go, I would definitely use AZN LED's. BUT, I would also wait for his HID kits as well. I have DDM and they are pretty good and cheap, but AZN's are coming out soon and will definitely be quality (and still a reasonable price). He will also have built in error cancelers and you will know that they will definitely match your LED's...

Thank you, im going to check my manual again I may have missed that. :-)

Also its nice to know that it is widely known and a tsb is out for it. Annd for the window

I didn't specify correctly for my tyranny. Its not a manual since my mom or sis do not know how to use one so I wasn't able to get a manual for one of my choices but its a 6spd auto in manual mode the highest is 6 though I havent really seen much info on the boards with people having a 6spd auto

Yup all answered your all great and for dealers each give different experience I know they might be pricier since I brought my friends xtype and stype before and came out for a pretty penny for last maintenance. But that was a while ago. Ill share my experience once I go through my appointment.

Thank you all and yes I remember AZN mentioning that he has his in the works. I can wait no rush :-)

Edit: I typed on my phone so I didn't really get a good look at my spelling sorry AZN, on a phones autocorrect AZN is not part of its library

If you have an automatic gearbox then it is a 7 speed one, in manual mode you can only go upto 6.. i dont know why. Also as far as i know you cannot get a automatic 6 speed gearbox for the c300.

I think the in built error cancelers did not work out so well and that external error cancelers will be needed.

Couple of things, do Trans flushes as often as you can afford. It will do 2 things prevent varnish which can hang the solenoids, second the tech can check for metal shavings. With that being said paying 200 to 500 a year is not always affordable. So check a Transmit ion only or performance shop. P performance guys will only try to sell mods and there aren’t many up sells in a specific shop. The dealer will probably tell you it can affect your warrantee but it won’t. I spent more than 15 years in a highline dealership and we rarely made money selling the car. We made it on the service.

Well i had my appointment and unfortunately they are backed up (no surprise) I had to reset it for Monday morning at 7AM.

They many need my car for a day, but i can't be without it i work at 3PM-12AM . I'm going to need a rental or something.

does MB give a loaner if the repair is under warranty since it is not a routine service? I want to know if i can avoid paying for the rental, which is what the SA said i can do.

or do i have to have a plan or something?

External cancellers will be included as a kit. It's not that much more of an effort to get them installed.

Yes. Your dealer should have a loaner fleet. Most dealers wont charge for it but some might. The big thing is schedualing. The fleet is probably 6 to 10 cars and the average dealer will have between 35 to 50 apointments a day so when setting up a service let them know you need a loaner. It might take a week or so to get one. Sorry for the spelling i have fat fingers and a iphone

Well I got my car back today,

It went well they replaced my Rear Window and replaced both front thrust arm bushings.

as per DTB 33.15-p-047471
203 333 10 14 Rubber Bushi
211 333 06 97 Elastomeric

No more knocking and no more static when i need to use the defroster.

Thanks everyone for your information.

AZN, hey if that makes them work, i see no problem.

Good to hear that everything went well!! Btw, can you describe the problem you were having with the static and did you request the rear window to be replaced or they just did it?

I described the problem, my FM radio will cut out as soon as i turned on the defroster. if i turned off the defroster the radio will come back on. the antenna and defroster are tried to the window and the c pillars, they checked the c pillars and verified that it was the window and replaced it.

My SA mentioned that it might be the rear window when i informed him of the problem i was having. but it could also be a connector to the window which might have been loose.
well in this case it was the window and they replaced it. they have tape on it that must be left on the car till tomorrow night.

204 670 05 80 Rear Window
204 671 00 50 Intermediate
Both are warranty repair. i did not have to pay any of the claims as they all fall in warranty repair status.

Cool, thanks for clarifying. Hope you didn't have tints on your windows, becaus it isn't that easy to match tint's color on a car if you don't have brand and color.
