C300 HID INSTALL HELP

I have installed HID in every car I have owned. I just purchased the 2011 C300 Non BI-XENON Edition. I didn't want spend the $1000's extra when you can buy DDM for less than $100.

My first question, is I do not see a normal plug, to unplug from the bulb, that would go into the ballast.

I took the cap off and it looks like the plug and everything is intact inside the headlight assembly (which will not fit a ballast, ignitor)

I understand most drilled a hole in the back cover, and then used the bulbs grommet to create the seal. But how do I access the H7 Plug to plug into the Ballast on the out side of the headlight assembly.

Thank you.

The driver side is so tight. Anyone that has installed HID's in the non Bi Xenon please help.

How did you get the bulb in, then clamp it down, then put the dust cap on. It is so tight that I think it can't be done.

I took the clip off and just squeezed my hands in and clipped the clip back in. The space is tight as hell but its doable.

Well this really sucks and Pi$$es me off. I cannot for the life of me get it in. I can get the bulb in and barely locked down. But there is now way to get the harness in, and then get the dust cap lined up to use the 7/8" hole to get the setup. I HATE DUST CAPS. just freaking plug them in the back like every other car.

anyone have any pictures. 5 hours wasted.

Unfortunately I didn't get pictures taken but if your able to get your hand in to put the bulb in then after that is just a bit of coordination to get the clip locked in. The bulb needs to be seated into the housing a certain way. If you look at the bulb itself it should have a silver ring around the middle that as 3 tabs. Those 3 tabs need to be seated into the housing of the headlamp itself so if it still wiggles then it's not seated properly. You'll need to twist the bulb (clockwise or counter) until it sinks into position. After that, work on getting the clip locked in since the bulb won't move anymore. Once the clips good to go then all that's left is the dust cap.

The hardest part is just getting your hand in for the clip.

Ok, I got the bulb in, and locked down, but what did you do to the dust cap. Did you drill the 7/8" hole? Thanks.

I went a different route with that.

I shaved a bit of the cap from the edge to that the wires can pass through. I didn't use the gromet that came with my kit.

I used a dremel and just shaved a bit off the edge of the cap so just the wires (not plugs) can pass through. If your worried about condensation you can just use tape to block the shaved area off. I didn't use tape and have no condensation buildup and I've had the DDM kit for roughly 3 years.

You mean you shaved or dremeled the actual head light assembly. Like the RIM, or did you do that to the dust cap.

I was just afraid to do it to the headlight as far as condensation. I didn't want to have to rebuy a new headlight if I messed up.

no I just shaved a bit off the dust cap not the headlight.

you know how the dust cap looks like a [

I shaved (Dremeled) the bottom part of the [ where the thread starts on the edge. Just enough so that the wires can pass through.

Drilling a hole and using the gromet is probably easier. Drill a small pilot hole then increase the size of the hole until you can fit the gormet in.

In the past I drilled a hole and used the grommet. Another good way to keep water out is electricians putty. Home depot electrical aisle its a bar kinda grey black. Its putty and seals super tight and can come off unlike silicone. that way if you remove later on you can replug the hole.....

has anyone done a HID retrofit how-to? Do most people aim their lights a bit down afterword so as not to blind people? Do 35w kits throw a code? I don't want to go to a 55w kit because retrofitting you need less intensity not more, and less heat is also better for the light...

Hole needs to be a little bigger to fit a protruding tab on the side of one of the connectors. The BMW dust cap that DDM used in their instructions is flimsy and can be stretched but our dust caps are rigid. If you do some searching, I think I had a picture of my dust caps with the grommets/wiring in posted in one of the threads.

I don't think many people adjusted their projectors downwards. I have 55w 8000k installed for a little over a month now, and I haven't been flashed by oncoming drivers yet. I've also asked quite a few coworkers that have driven in front me coming in and leaving work, and they said, surprisingly, my lights look fine/are not blinding when seen from their rear view mirrors.

i just got hids from aznoptics. i was able to cut a hole in the cover 7/8s. which fits the grommet perfectly. but like lm24 said, the hole is too small for the harness. my harnesses were shipped already through the grommet. so i took a set of the wires out and slid them through the hole in the cover then back on the grommet and set the grommet. everything worked good i have pictures but i guess there too big to upload them sorry ill try to get them o here.
