I have, for about 3 weeks and then returned back to stock for no other reason than simply wanting to come up with a better idea to (1) secure the bulb in its place and (2) seal the bulb assembly from the elements. I initially used the method illustrated in this DIY thread: DIY - HID Fog light installation without cutting OEM bulb holder(DDM tuning HID kit )

The Quick Caps used there seemed like a great idea in theory, although in practice (and since I didn't want to have to mess up the alignment, I chose to leave the adjustment bracket on) so the Quik Caps were difficult to slip on properly with the adjustment bracket being in the way, and if you don't slip them on far enough, the tend to slip back off as you are remounting the lightbulb assembly onto the bumper (especially on the left/driver side being as tight as it is).

Unfortunately, I have no had much time to try some other ideas.

As noted in the link above, you will need a couple of Quik Caps and some wire to secure the bulb in its place. Alternatively, you will have to modify the bulb holder... An option that some may be weary of simply because once it is modified, you cannot go back and reuse it for the OEM set up if you decide to switch back later on. And as far as I know, the bulb holder is not sold separately but only as part of the entire fog light assembly (=$$).

Additionally, and although the kits come with 4 zip ties, it is recommended that you use some heavy duty double sided tape to secure the ballast to a surface behind the bumper.

You mean "wattage" (not voltage)... It is my understanding that due to high heat that is generated from the 55W kits, and other problems that might result, Michael has opted not to carry any 55Watt kits. But I should let him address that part; you maybe able to special order a 55W kit from him.

hid.
Fortunately for me, I am using the 5000k AZN Optics 35W kits for both, the low beam headlights & the fogs, so color match is a non-issue here.

Do you know if i can use this HID adaptor to hold the HID bulbs in the fog light housing?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-5...a0ead2e9c#shId

Also is the wiring plug from the vehicle and to the hid kit balast just plug n play? unlike from the quick cap diy, the wire have to be splice to the fog light vehicle wire.

Difficult/impossible to say. I mean it looks like it is designed to be the same shape, with the 3 tabs that are needed to secure it to the fog light housing, but it may no be such a perfect fit size wise.

I haven't tried it myself but it looks like it will fit.

^I basically copied frnakito and did the same. Here's the post from my thread saying what I did. (aka saving you the trouble of having to search it!)

"I ordered the fog light adaptors on iJDMtoy as recommended by another forum member. I needed to cut off a plastic tab for the adaptors to fit perfectly, but they did end up working. I had to use the stock rubber seals in place of the ones that came with the iJDMtoy adaptors because the iJDMtoy ones were a bit too fat. Besides that, you basically use the stock H7 bulb holder with the iJDMtoy and then screw them in. However there's some wiggle once they're screwed in, but my friend used some black high heat foam of some sort to keep the bulbs in place. If I ever get the chance I'll open up the fender lining and take a picture of the insides."

Good luck!

We'll hopefully have those same adapters soon. Working with a manufacturer to produce them for us.

Hey Mike do you think you could not do a similar copy to the ones listed above (ebay/iJDM) and maybe work out the fitment issues for our W204 with your manufacturer? None of the adaptors were quite plug and play. They all had a degree of wiggle to it. I'm due to check up on the foam so if you wanted to maybe swing by Irvine and check it out in all of its imperfection we could work something out! Cuz I'm pretty sure these as of now aren't gonna last. Lol, or I'll forget to replace the foam.

Then again, maybe the adaptors are supposed to be a perfect fit and I just installed them wrong.

The adapters are made from the same factory in China that iJDM and the ebay one uses. From what I understand talking to the manufacturer, they're the only ones making this adapter (skeptical about that sales pitch). They're not willing to make any modification because the cost to run two production lines would be cost prohibitive so any modifications would have to be done by me afterwards.

Alex, maybe we can meet up sometime and you can show it to me and we can brainstorm a solution.

What kind of foam did you use? I considered foam as an option to get a more secure fit, but in light of the amount of heat that is generated, and the fact that the foam itself can only function to secure the bulb if it is in full contact with it, I assumed it would be at risk of melting and either damaging the bulb or the entire fog light housing...

From what we could see the wobble was behind the bulb by its base while the bulb itself was still nicely tucked away in the foglight housing. So there would be only a minimal amount of heat leakage back to the bulb's base where the adaptors and foam are. We ended up using this black foam (don't really recall name/brand) that had a durable feel when you press it. Not really a sponge-type foam but it was sort of close in that aspect. I'll check up on it as soon as I get back and tell you.

And Mike, we can work out a date then I suppose. I'll be around Irvine once I get back on August 7. We can go from there.

IGB, is this the bulb holder you're talking about?

And from what you're saying, I'm going to have to buy a whole set of fog light assembly just for the particular part?

That looks exactly like the OEM bulb holder, yes!

That is my understanding... As has been confirmed by several members on here:

https://mbworld.org/forums/3611582-post201.html

And here are the part numbers: 204 820 2156 and 204 820 2256

Punch them up here: https://www.mymercedesparts.com/ and you'll see the price for the entire assembly... Not the bulb holder + the fog light housing.
