they had the Crossfire in their product line but I think the production stopped since 2007, I would assume that they'd use the slk chassis aswell

Crossfire was developed from the SLK platform. Sebring/200/Avenger was the result of a joint venture program with Mitsubishi and shared basic architecture with the Gallant...no matter what badge is put on it! MB platforms were not involved in the Sebring/200/Avenger, and nothing from Sebring/200/Avenger made its way into any MB platforms.

Yes, and that one is not as surprising as it might seem at first thought. Recall that before the Sebring/Avenger launched, Chrysler and Mitsubishi had already been cooperating on a joint venture program which produced the Sebring and Stratus Coupes from the MMC plant in Normal, Illinois which also built the very similar Eclipse. Using the platform Mitsubishi was already developing for the next generation provided a clear investment savings for Chrysler at a time when it was very needed.
