Exactly what type of suspension does a C300 Sport 4matic use?

I am just curious of how advanced or conventional it is. Does it use springs and shocks or coilovers? front vs rear

Also, what wears out? The springs or the shocks? Do you think that someday we will ever need to replace these (assuming you have the car for a while)?

The exit to my school has like 5-6 speed bumpers i have to go over everyday and i hate it. I leave the exit twice a day to. It got me thinking about what components I will need to replace over time. Aren't the shocks special where they increase in firmness when the car senses lively driving, making the shocks even harder to replace I guess. If anyone who has lowered their car or has a lot of knowledge of the c300's suspension can chime in that would be great!

C300's have high tech shocks that self adjust more than typical shocks. They would soften going over speed bumps. Might be able to get an "agility control" option where shock fluid has metal particles sensitive to magnetic field, that change effective viscosity when a button on dash is pushed. Have not heard of any MB shock wearing out, but would likely be 1st to wear out of susp parts mentioned.

Sport vs lux: stiffer springs, swaybars, and shocks, and 1/2" lower.

I am of the notion that they do not self adjust enough to tell a difference.

yeah thats true, only the agility control ones use magnetic valving adjusters.

only the agility contol shocks have a switch for normal and much stiffer sport modes.

I have the dynamic handling on my 2011 350 and its night and day to the regular ride when engaging sport mode. Very stiff and firm, definitely more sporty than my 08 350 w H&R springs was. It also gives u paddle shifters and M mode, they are seperate buttons in addition to the C (now E) and S button. The only caveat is it drops slightly when engaged, not enough for me, wish it was more. And you cant do springs or any suspension mods to this package, there are sensors w little pitman type arms on the sways and end links that controls dampening and rebound rates. Its a tradeoff. If you wanna lower ur car a bit ur better without this package. If you like the option in ride control, and want paddles (hell yes) its a nice feature. I think the suspension will hold up well for many miles, but like all vehicles if you start getting some bounce its not the springs, its shocks/struts that does rebound

Thanks for the input on dynamic handling pkg with agility control. IF height drops, then airsprings are involved, w or w/o springs. I also read that agility control had some effect on shifting, but that may just fix the E/S button to S.

There are 3 functions regarding shifting; Econ, Sport, & Manual, where are the switches for ea?

does anyone know what type of strut can be used for replacement on a 2008 AWD C300 SPort? also what type of shock to use as a replacement for the rears? should I use KYB or Blisten?
