Is anyone else finding themselves frequently readjusting the passenger sear and restarting the car in order for the passenger seat to recognize that it is occupied?

Seems like the airbag sensor is not very sensitive for passengers weighing 110-125. Anyone know if the deler can fix this?

There is a weight limit at which point the air bag turns off as it is safer not to deploy. I have no idea what that limit is, it should be in the owners manual. I would think the airbag should certainly be active for a 120 pound individual. Dealer probably needs to replace the sensor. No biggie. Make sure to get it checked out.

There should be no if's in this case. Your car is under warranty, so just go there and get it done.

Strongly agree. Call and make the appointment now, and only carry passengers in the rear seat until repaired.

Just to try to understand your frame of reference, what part of the car are you concerned the dealer cannot fix?

The dealer can certainly fix this. Passenger seats have been sensing weight for airbag purposes accurately for a long while on Benz cars. Just get them to sort it out.

Finally took it in. They replaced the seat cushion and all is better. Great service center. What a relief after dealing with terrible bmw for ou last car. BMW never fixed anything that broke under warranty and never gave loaners.

I have this issue every now and then it says passenger airbag inoperable, but if I shut off the car it begins working again. Took it to dealer they couldn’t find anything wrong with it?

We took a video to prove that it was malfunctioning. The dealership had trouble reproducing the issue. Not totally sure they ever did, but they replaced the seat anyway...it's been at least two weeks with no more issues. They think it was a bad circuit in the seat I think. Very happy it is fixed.
