Engine cover painting

I see a lot of engine covers painted and was wondering if you guys did yourselves or had a paint shop do it. If you did it yourself what type of paint as I would like to get mine done.

I did the little "U" in the middle and it wasn't crazy hard. The problem that I found was that tape did not want to adhere to the surface of the engine cover. I ended up having to take lots of pieces of paper and having to fold them underneath the U(grey part in the middle of the engine). The MB emblem pops out on it so that was easy to paint seperately. I used krylon fusion paint that i got from lowes and it worked pretty well.

I used the Krylon Fusion on my previous car. Had it on for over 4 years and it still looked like new. It does not give a super high-gloss finish and that is what I wanted.

You could do it yourself and I've seen some pretty decent jobs. Mine was done with PPG paint at the shop.
