Use mats like these to reduce the drone

http://www.acousticpc.com/images/noi...sti_deluxe.jpg

They are made from foam and used to reduce sound on floors etc I think.

I have them aswell in my car and stopped all the drone inside, works good for me.

I have filled my whole sparetrunk with it

I cut them in pieces and filled the space where my reserve wheel should be,since I dont have one so under the regular trunk, also I have them as bottom of the regular trunk, doesnt look too bad imo.

Not sure how these things work since I dont have them over here in holland,if putting them on the bottom from the regular trunk still doesnt do the trick you might have to use double tape and tape them against the side where your backseats are.

I will make some photos tomorrow if I dont forget and show you what I exactly mean

Dude I got a x-pipe plus muffler delete today and I totally understand the drone your talking about- Its around 2.5k rpm and is only loud when lightly applying throttle. But VERY loud. My best advice would be either "driving around it" (i figured out how to only make it happen a little in about 20min) or getting 2 magnaflow race mufflers installed.

I had a discussion with a customer at the muffler shop. He said the best sound normally come from hiflow cats or cat delete, resonator delete, with stock mufflers ON. I would agree, but I told him cats are out of the picture cuz im on warrantee. I feel like its too powerful a drone to muffle with insulations. Its VERY resonant. A bunch of members here said that magnaflow mufflers were the solution for them. Unfortunately I dont have the green for that right now. Ill do them when I do the quad tips.

Did the dynamat help at all or do nothing? If it had say a 50% reduction id be cool.

Story of my past year LOL.... What I did that helped was insulated my rear floor with hardwood. It kinda helped as an extra barrier from spare tire to trunk area

I gotta say, Mikonuj probably has the best alternative to Xpipe no mufflers to this day. He drilled holes in the piping right before the mufflers and has a pair of bolt-tightening clamps on each side that he can slip over the holes for quiet driving and take off to let the car growl. Best of both worlds as far as I could tell. More people should learn from him :3

I also was extremely pleased with my results, as the link in post #18 above shows. I was thinking this current problem wasn't making sense, and then, re-reading the string, I realize the OP seems to have modified his stock exhaust system. I don't know if dynamat is/is not as capable as the Damplifier Pro I bought from Michael, but it may well be that no product will be able to overcome whatever exhaust changes may have been made.

Damplifier Pro and Dynamat are good products for what they were meant for...that being vibration reduction. They are not sound barriers however. They assist in preventing noise caused from panels/parts vibrating and resonating where they're attached, but if the vibration is coming from an external component that isn't wrapped, then Dynamat and Damplifier won't do much to help. You'll now need to put in a dense sound barrier (like the Luxury Liner Pro link I provided) to block the sound that you couldn't prevent from happening. The OP solution of putting in insulation will help keep heat/ac in the cabin, but won't help block external noise.

To get drone you need exitation at that frequency. You may be able to borrow someones G-meter, if it has a frequency display, to help pinpoint source of exitation.

#1 excitation suspect is usually tire tread. Comment on:

1) tire model and wear condition
2) miles on tires
3) how often rotated and type of rotation ( cross, FR- BK, side-side )

.

Ive done 3 diff exhaust on my car and the only way to get rid of the drone is to have resonators on whether the stock ones or aftermarket.
