my command/navigation stereo system is show up a message saying something like "Turn on your car engine or the radio will turn off in 3 minutes" while the car is been driven. After a good 20-30 drive the message appears and tell me to turn on engine WHILE IM DRIVING THE CAR!!!! any advice ???

In addition, when the stereo is still running and the message has not been displayed yet, the stereo does not shut off by itself when I turn off the engine and exsit the vehicle. I have to manually turn it off the stereo system

 

do you happen to have the video in motion module for your vehicle?? had the same problem on my GL. Removed the module and all was well. I guess the video in motion went dead.

 

if by "video in motion" you mean i have DVD capabilities , yes I DO ... the motion part i don't think i do because i have tried playing movies for my child while driving and the system won't let me ... It SHUT OFF and goes back to radio/stereo mode. it has something to do with safety feature to avoid a distraction while driving.

 

ok. the video in motion means it overides that safety feature. it allows you to see your video while in motion. anyway, it seems that you will probably need a new multimedia unit.

 

it has to be something more simple than just replacing the whole unit...The system is not recognizing the car engine is running , IT really has to be something specific.. thank though

 

Contact a dealer and see what they say. Sounds like an electronic specific problem, I doubt anyone here would know much about it, unless they have had the same experience.

 

keep us posted to what the dealer says. i took my gl to the dealership because of the exact same problem you are having. before they looked at the car, they told me that from what the syptoms were, and what he has seen in the past, i would need a new multimedia unit. when i told him about my video in motion, he told me that if that what was causing the problem, it would not be covered under warranty. so i left the dealership, removed the video in motion and it fixed the problem.

 

does your screen always stay in nighttime mode (darker colors) and does your rearview camera work. those were the other things that did not work, in addition to the things you are having a problem with. are you still under warranty?

Got the "3 minute warning" only when parked, engine off and continued listening to the stereo. This message is supposedly to conserve the battery. However, since I recently replaced my original OEM battery, now I don't get the message even when listening for 30 minutes or more (before the message displayed after 5 minutes).

A suggestion is to check the condition of your current battery. If not in top charging condition, perhaps replacing with a new battery will cause this message not to be activated.

 

I have the same issue with mine while i'm driving it says turn on the ignition or will turn of in 3min and when i press ok it says it will turn of in 10 seconds (I also replaced the battery)

 

i had this when my alternator was broken!

 

Check the charging system.

If someone tested the charging system, what did they find? Why didn't you ask them, they should have been "someone who knows what they are talking about"

What are the voltages when running, actual at the battery, at the alternator, and displayed in the vehicle data?

 

i got a brand new battery and its doin this same thing, radio does not turn off by itself when i take the key off and open the door, it is like if the car was off and not recognize. Did anybody found a solution?

 

Your stereo does not shutdown with ignition off regardless of new battery...

You will need to retrieve faults from your chassis. Something's not right
