Replace LED or entire bumper? (Yes, I searched)

Hi all. I searched the forum using "replace LED" AND "bumper" and didn't see anything that answered my probably VERY simple question:

As the facelifted W204s age, those LED driving lamps will surely burn out or be damaged by rocks or debris. Are they easy to replace individually? Or does the entire bumper have to be replaced? If replaced individually, is that a DIY/plug and play type of job if using factory parts?

Thanks!

As some of you might know, I'm still making decisions on exactly what 204 to get. Trying to think long-term. Not being a pest on purpose!

Thanks again.

The entire assemblies can be replaced (vs each individual LED). A few people have converted the round halogen fogs to the OEM LEDs...

Thanks for the reply. I should clarify - I know that each individual LED can't be replaced (or I THINK I know that). I meant to ask if each side, as a unit/strip, can be replaced individually without removing the bumper? As in, go to MB parts counter, by the 4 inch long strip, and plug the new one back in to replace the cracked one.

When you say round halogen fogs, are you referring to the 08-10 models before the LEDs were standard? I think the new models don't even offer fogs anymore.

Thanks!

Yep, just buy replacement units - then plug'n'play.
Honestly though? I highly doubt you'll ever need to. So little surface area to crack compared to the round halogen fogs from the '08 - '10s.
And when I said some people converted, they bought the new LED strips and retrofitted them in. Required cutting of the supports for the round fogs...

Thanks, that's good news.

I'm thinking even if they don't get damaged, the LED strips will fail at some point. Just thinking ahead about replacements. Now off to find pricing per side.

Thanks again.

Not sure. It's not unheard of for people to keep MBs on the road far longer than just 20 years.

Surely you aren't inferring that LEDs don't fail before 20 years.
