C300 stock wheels no longer fitting, grinding sound

I have a 09 C300 that I am recently taking back to stock. Originally I had after market rims/tires and suspension. I went to put the stock wheels back on last night and came across a problem. The wheels are in the right position as far as 245/40 in the rear 225/40 in the front but I can hear something grinding when it rolls. Almost as if I need a spacer? A little confused as these are my original stock wheels. Anyone else ever had the same problem? Or know what I'm doing wrong??

Did you use the same lug bolts that were used with the aftermarket wheels? Maybe they're longer than the stock lug bolts?

first thing I thought too, i've tried both just to be certain
I'm stumped. Only thing I can think of is that I left these stock wheels (w/lugs) at a buddies shop. I'm wondering if they are lugs off of another mercedes...would that even make a difference?

If your rear lug bolts are too long they foul the e brake mechanism in the rear wheel hats.

bolts should be 14mm X 1.5 X 1.1" (27mm) for regular C-Class. R14 ball seated. this is 100% correct. just done yesterday (12.5.12). Pep boys carries them for about 25 bucks, the dealership charges 125...typical.

if you use lugs that are even a few mm's too long you will destroy your ebrake within a few miles at high speeds.

This happened to me too but only on the aftermarket wheels. Wat causes it? Is it too long??
