Illuminated Star....
"Owners of certain Mercedes-Benz models can now specify their cars
with an illuminated version of the star on the center grille.Available through Mercedes’ official accessories division, the lit star only works at certain times, and never when the car is being driven.
It’s designed to illuminate when the car is unlocked, its doors or trunk opened, or when the engine is turned off. It then stays on for 15 seconds unless triggered again.
Currently, the special star is only available for the M Class and GL Class SUVs
, though Mercedes plans to launch versions for the C Class, E Class and CLS Class models at a later date. Note, if your car is equipped with Distronic or Distronic Plus cruise control, it can’t be fitted with the illuminated star feature."Pretty cool, anyone know how much?

They should focus on more of the interior trim chipping, better standard lighting , and a bit more horses instead of this ****ty ricer feature.

I have seen this on Honda cars before and even those in a Honda makes it look nastier than a riceY. This is a bad joke on a MB but I guarantee that I will be seeing this a lot on young, parents bought, MB cars here in vancouver. Hell I just saw a spanking brand new SL AMG this morning in candy pink with matching hello kitty on top of the dashboard.

Pretty gaudy IMO. I understand them trying to do something different but definitely not the right direction. Next you'll have night illuminated AMG badges to show off you have an AMG at night...

After unlocking with the key; the Star will be illuminated for 40 seconds
- If any door is opened, the Star will stay illuminated for total of 5 minutes
- If doors are closed, the Star turns off
- If vehicle is started, the Star turns off
- After driving and parking, the Star will be illuminated for 60 seconds after the engine is switched off
So I guess it is just an accent, not a star-headlight

2007 CLS-550
Does anybody here know how I can modify the OEM illuminated star kit to fit a 2007 CLS-550? I've been to the dealer, but they tell me there is no kit for my car, only newer models. I thought the star medallion on these cars are pretty much the same diameter. My belief is that it should be possible to modify an illuminated star kit intended for another model and make it fit my 2007 CLS. I have no idea where to start or who to ask... I WANT ONE OF THESE, GHETTO LOOKING OR NOT! :-)
