2008 W204 with P2004 and P0057
Hello All,
Today I was driving my 2008 C350 and my check engine light came on. I connected my scan tool to it and received both P0057 and P2004 with 2 occurrences of each. The car does not present any other issues as far as engine running. I did notice a couple days ago that when I went to start the car it seemed to take a long time to start, but only did that once and since then hasn't done it again (maybe a different issue). I also tried to reset the ECM to see if the problem would return and it would not reset the ecm( dont know why)
I'm reaching out to see if anyone has seen this before and if both the codes are related. I was not receiving any codes until today. I do know P2004 states intake manifold runner control stuck open (bank 1) and P0057 seems to be calling out the O2 sensor in bank 2 sensor 2.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

**update to problem :( help
Ok so I got home and sure enough I see the intake manifold control runner broken in the same location as I saw doing some surfing online. I also saw a video on youtube that said this part is not sold by mercedes benz and they onyl sell the entire manifold. Is this true?
Has anyone encountered this problem? If so is there a thread that describes the repair? Lastly, what effects could this have if I am driving this car?
Thanks everyone.

This issue is common on our models. They sell repair kits on eBay around $100. I personally bought mine from company called All German Auto. In order to be replaced the whole intake manifold must come out. It's a lot of work. I've included some pdf files to help you if your trying to DIY, however I do recommend this job to be done by a professional technician. Part link: https://www.agacoolantpipe.com/produ...throttle-lever They also have a video you can check it out.

Thank you for the reply. I will be ordering the part through AGA as well and have my brother do the actual work, especially since he is a technician at audi and can perform at his shop. AGA is pricier than Ebay, but I also noticed some of the actuators on Ebay seemed to be designed differently ( with pins). Did you end up having to shave the wire pin as suggested might be needed in the video?

@yojaywuzup My intake manifold looks different from the one they showed on the video. I had to trim a lil plastic peace because it was in the way. When your package come make sure u received the correct gaskets, because they gave me two of the same side. Tell your technician to check for oil in the intake and down the valves, i have oil coming to the intake I'm trying to figure out why.
@c350nubie I don't believe there is preventive care, plastic gets old and it breaks.

@EuRo_C300. Thanks for the heads up. I will check the gaskets. I ordered the parts last week and I'm expecting the parts to show up on Monday, but maybe later due to the holiday season. I will try to get some pics and post them once the repair is done to share with everyone. I have also realized that my P0057 code is also directly related to this broken lever and not the O2 sensor. I realigned the broken connector and this allowed the system to manipulate the lever and once it did both the P2004 and the P0057 went away. I have done this twice so far with the same result. So anyone waiting for parts to be shipped, you can do this with a long flat tip screwdriver as a temp fix. It will pop out of place eventually though.

Update**
Well I received the lever from AGA last week and had the replacement done on Saturday. @Euro_C300- thanks for the recommendation with AGA the lever was a great replacement and yes I had to shave down the yellow plastic tab to allow the lever to fully move to the left. A dremel made easy work of that. Its needed due to the replacement lever being thicker than the thin plastic original. The hardest part of the job was removing all the wiring on top of the manifold as this is where the pcm is located. I didn't want to disconnect the pcm so we disconnected everything that would be in the way, i.e. fuel injector connections, wiring retainers, and hoses. The disassemble took about 2 hours since it was my first time. The lever swap took less than 10 minutes once the manifold was removed. Removing the manifold, btw, is pretty tricky if your not disconnecting the pcm, but it can be wiggled out of the way, just remember to disconnect the throttle cable in the rear of the manifold at the bottom. Reinstallation was much easier and only took about an hour to make sure all bolts were properly torque and wires connected. Afterwards, I started the car and watched the lever to make sure it actuates and it did. I have not seen the P2004 since. The P0057 has returned though which is the bank 2 sensor 2 call out I saw when the P2004 first showed up. I guess my O2 sensor is bad as well. Also @hmc, mileage when this problem occurred was around 119k.
Does anyone know if the OEM O2 sensor is a Bosch product or another manufacturer? I hope this helps anyone else who runs into this problem.
