I'm the OP, I wasn't insulting anybody, it seems like others have sabotaged my innocent little rant. To each his own and I'm not degrading anyone for cheap/flashy/ghetto rims on their benz. Just saying I noticed this trend and it just doesn't make sense to me.

And to the guy who said he'll smoke me in his 500$ Nissan.. Godspeed to you sir! Hope it makes your ********* grow larger after you see me in your rear view. I didn't buy a Benz to race or compare or to look down on other people. So no need for instigation. But again, to each his own.

And "edgalang".. I used plastiidip to change the color of my stock wheels to a gunmetal black. Nothing flashy about that. It's benz wheels just different color, and people can't even tell that it has been modified.

No worries, I am not insulted that you posted a picture of my car because it was before I bought it. But whenever someone uses the quote "to each his own," that's usually reserved for somebody who doesn't really care what people do to their car. Hence, they probably won't start a rant thread about it. You started an off-topic thread in the W204 forum asking people to stop putting chrome and cheap Japanese wheels on their car, and ranting about how it's horrible. Since it was such a general statement, you were aiming this at any and all members on this W204 forum. Now, it's easy to misinterpret what your true intentions are because you are a new member and you probably don't realize that most Japanese wheel brands are not cheap, but are high quality forged wheels. Japanese brands like Advans, SSR, Weds, Rays Engineering/Volk Racing, Work, etc. makes some of the best wheels in the market. Can you name any Japanese wheel brand that you see people on here rocking that is cheap? How many members on here have horrible chrome rims? Is there such an abundance of horrible modified cars posted on this forum that you needed to say something? I view pictures from our members daily and most of the modifications I see are very mild and subtle.

Just saying though, I am not even mad, but I just don't understand the purpose of your off-topic thread/rant? "To each their own" doesn't work when you want people to stop doing what you don't like. Just doesn't make sense you know.

Which car was yours that I posted? The pic I posted I actually found on google images. Sorry about that. Some jap wheels are nice, and do fit our cars.. Didn't mean to generalize it. But there are some that the carpet doesn't match the drapes and that just doesn't look right. I'm not against modifying our cars but as long as it retains the cars classy and beautiful look.

I am fully aware of what you did to the wheels. I however still stand by my original comment.

There is nothing wrong with someone wanting to customize the look of their car with good high end Japanese forged rims . Call it "rice" or whatever but to each his own and I see nothing wrong with that as long as it's tasteful and staying classy (no satellite jumbo spoiler etc).

It appears you are confusing the meaning of "rice" and bling bling "ghetto" look and I think what you are ranting about is the objection of the ghetto limo tint and bling bling spinning absurb rims look.

There is nothing wrong with a bit of tasteful rice and you should not knock someone for wanting to personalize their car.

I beg to differ. For the most part European car owners do very tasteful mods to their cars. Those who put crappy looking wheels only represent a small crowd and it's because of that is why they stand out. Just leave them be, in reality it doesn't affect you in anyway and doesn't diminish the MB brand by any means. You come off as pretentious vs. somebody with integrity and standards, you might abide by it but to flaunt it to the world doesn't give you credibility.

What are you talking about boss? Where did i ever mention a c63 is rice. The ghetto bulky plastic spoilers and valences.... rimz and etc make it rice.

So your telling me that an opinion only matters when your an "established member" on mbworld lol. Common now .. Everyone has their own opinion and im obviously the minority on my oem+ tastes in this forum.

And romeo291, I do give you that it is cleaned up! Lookin good

Everyone has their right to opinion on this forum and i was just expressing mine. Not taking anything back and I might even post some members on here which are progressing the forum ....

Sometimes less is more. Clean, lowered, and definitely progressing mbworld in the right direction.

I'm pleased to see that this car has been correctly lowered for cd & stability at speed. Namely nose down & tail up. Maybe tail should be very slightly higher.

You're confusing me with other members in this thread Romeo, I didn't post that pic of your car.
And sorry I wasn't aware that Jap was an offensive term, was just trying to abbreviate.

And I don't care about other people doing with their cars, and am all for it. Just thought I'd get get since discussion about a trend that I've been seeing. So thanks for the discussion, it's good to see that many of you agree that our cars deserve tasteful modifications and there's a little culture growing of those who are modifying their cars with Japanese accessories, as there is such culture with VW owners. Nothing wrong with that. stay classy

No, but calling out other established members on here for their mods isn't kosher. There is a bit of a decorum that should be followed on forums - this isn't VWVortex or such, and it's not overrun by 16 year olds who bought their cars with mommy and daddy's money.

I'm done arguing with you because there's no point. Show up at a german car show with "over exaggerated" spoilers, sideskirts, valances, and gawdy rimz and you will be laughed at. That's my only point. That's also why you don't tend to see clean newer model mercedes' on car forums, compared to vw or audis. Its because they tend to be "gawdy" with the mods people are doing to them. In my opinion ruining the car, but hey.. what do i know. OEM+ all day is the way to go and get compliments.
