Illuminated star fitted.

Does anybody have instructions on how to remove the star itself? I read somewhere that you turn the star counter clockwise to remove? Is that correct? If someone has a link to any instructions please post it.
Thank you in advance.

Its a good idea to stop and ask questions in the install if you are unsure, the wait is much better than breaking a tab on expensive plastic pieces. Trust me, haha.

Not correct on 2012+ at least. I read this as well. There are three tabs holding in the star, it pulls directly out when the three tabs are depressed.

I pulled the whole grill out and then removed the star by pressing on the back tabs and then it snapped out.

I love your S204. My wife absolutely loves it too and would have gone for that if it were available here. I take it the 250 estate is a european only model ?

And this is the WIS document that has all the steps. The wiring WIS for the illuminated star is in a previous post. I hope this makes the installs easier for you all.

My opinion is not important, what is important is that you did a very solid, clean install
Nice job

Depends on how you connect the star, if you go by the book and install the CAN control unit it only works on facelift models.
As the system only is lit when locking and unlocking your car in dark ambient light I wanted to rewire it for permanent illumination.
The star is luckily using 12V so I simply hooked it up to the headlight parking lights (the C in the headlight)
By doing this the star is lit just as it should if hooked up with the CAN unit but now it is also permanetly lit as long as the parking lights are, and that is with darker ambient lighting.

Hi Vic viper, may I ask when you hooked the illuminated star to your parking light did it trigger any warning lights? I have a 2013 c63 and I had it set up to the control unit that only allows it to lid when unlock/open door. I took it to a mechanic and asked them to hook it to the parking light, but they say it requires cutting/damaging the factory wires, and it might trigger warning lights in the instrument cluster.
Could you please explain how you did it? does it mean you don't need the control unit anymore?
Thanks in advance!

I installed mine today. I wired it the "always on" way described a few posts above by capt_paul.
The hardest part was getting the pink/yellow wire out of the connector. Unscrewing the SAM was a pain too. Got it done though.

Did you installed it with all the parts mentioned in the installation guide posted by capt_paul? The illuminated star wiring harness, and the Y wiring harness?

Ok, I will order it and try it out.
A207 817 04 16, star assembly - $295
A207 820 00 13 wiring harness - $60
A166 900 48 10 CAN Control unit for permanent illumination US-market only - not valid part #
I'm wondering if I am better off just buying the Illuminated star kit from eBay. Around $400.
I want it to be illuminated all the time. Any other suggestion without splitting wires?
