I would suggest maybe using a paint touch up kit at first, It is a pretty big spot so I dont know if it will work. Just try some at a local auto parts store first.

They wouldn't just repaint that area, they would have to repaint the whole hood, because it would be uneven and look horrible if they just painted that area.
Painted the hood can be around $350-$500
You could try TouchUp paint, but it would be noticeable and wouldn't look good. TouchUp paint is for small surface areas such as rock chips and small scratches.

To the OP, you cannot touch that up as stated earlier. It appears the clear coat is completely gone. Likely from excess polishing or compounding. Notice how the edges are gone where paint is thin. Did someone without experience buff the car out? Only way to fix it is full respray of the hood.

Clear coat failure. Either respray the hood or have a spot repair done with Glasurit water base coat & nano ceramic clear for your paint code. With Glasurit system they can patch repair that with perfect match. You will never see it's been touched.
