Hi all i new to benz - i am having a problem with massive turbo lag and erratic idling when cold as well as noticable power loss - i have checked the maf and egr and all seems to be fine and am now looking for the throttle body to clean the flap out if sooted up but can not find the location with any pics anywere on the net!! i have the 2007 w204 merc amg sport 2.1 cdi 5 sp auto (have some pics on my profile) - is there anyone that can help me locate exactly where the throttle body is with pics ?

sure you do not have a problem with the waste gates on your turbo
There are about 8 sensors that are used to operate your turbo and a problem with any one of them can cause your problem

wanted to start with the easiest step first as usually the throttle flaps get gunked up and restricted causing tell tell signes of erratic idle etc then was going to move onto other things.

there is no mechanical linkage it is all done by electronics
The accelerator pedal is basically a transducer that applies a control signal to the sensors which then adjust the fuel into the engine. the turbo has also a number of sensors that adjust the boost according to the engine revs and the position accelerator pedal. because you have severe lag i think one of these sensors is playing up

throttle body

I understand but surely there must be a throttle body as I have seen them on e bay. The lag may be the sensor issue but the erratic idling I'm thinking may just be an easy clean if the TB. The ones I've seen on eBay surely do appear to have a lot if soot biuld up. My plan was to clean this out first if anyone can help me locate the throttle body first.

egr is the exaust gas recurculation valve m8 - totally different to the Throttle body which is connected on the air intake. taken my egr oout to clean it but was clean enough. looked on aby for a throttle body and theres loads - all gooked up. if the flasp doesnt close properly and is covered in black tar then it wont opperate correctly and you will get idle issies as well as other issues depending on how bad it is. most are aeasy to find right at the front of the engine in line past the maf sensor near the body but on this merc i can not find it anywere - i have a diagram that shows it but doesnt make it clear where to look in relation to other parts of the engine (if that makes sence) - frankly im Shocked nobody on this forum has the experience to advise where to look for it. My old Vw golf gti i had last - there were tons of perople who could help with pics and advise.
