Can I order a crate engine?
My question here is, am i able to call the mercedes engine manufacturing company and order a brand new engine for my vehicle? I have a 2013 c350 4matic, it was hydrolocked, and a connecting arm was bent. the insurance company isn't giving me what i want for it, and i am thinking of buying out the claim and getting the repair done myself.
is it possible to order a brand new engine? and if so, does anyone have an idea on cost

You can order a new engine through Mercedes. The part number can be found in the EPC electronic parts catalog, which you can subscribe to for free (if you live in the USA), or by visiting a Mercedes dealer parts department. I expect that the cost would be high, probably in the range of $8000 plus shipping and labor.

if it's 8k i'm laughing.
The dealership quoted 40k between the engine and the labor. I had a hard time believing a 15-20k engine could cost another 20k to install. in either case, you guys are saying it shouldnt be a big deal if i just ask the parts department to order one in, and i can get either the dealership or a reputable shop to install it?

it's gonna be more than 8k for sure, depending on if you get a short or long block and how much work you want to put in it. If long block, I'd likely triple that. short block maybe double.

I know my only data point is that my son had to have a new motor put in his F150, an ecoboost V6. It was a long block and per Ford the motor alone was over $12k if I recall.

So, just out of curiosity, I looked up a complete engine for my 3013 C350.
part number A276 010 13 06
price $27,708
The best alternative for your situation would be to find a low mileage C350 that has been totaled, or just rebuild the existing engine.
You can probably get the engine cheaper if you just order the short block and transfer the other existing parts, since the intake, wiring, sensors should still be good

they quoted $40k, which i guess isn't that far off your $30k + install. Thanks, I think i'm just going to get as much from the insurance company as i can lol.
$50k sound reasonable on a 2013 c350, 5,000 miles, fully loaded?

would be a fun project to pop a new rod in it though if you had the time and space. Just put the motor on a stand and turn it upside down, pop the pan, unbolt the rod, then turn it over and pull the head to pull the piston out. shouldn't take more than a couple hours.......ha ha.
are you sure it's only one rod?
