Check engine light 2011 C300

Check engine light 2011 C300

Hey guys,

So I turned on my car yesterday and saw that my check engine light came on

! My car has 65k on it currently and my first instinct was to go to the local autozone to get the light checked. The code that was given was P2571 but it showed that the code was for a Chrysler lol. I am going to Carmax where I got it from Wednesday to get it check since I purchased the 100k warranty from them but was wondering if you guys had any idea what that code means? I did a google search and saw it said something about the oZone sensor. Would this have anything to do with my aftermarket hid kit?

I do have the AznOptics hid kit... =\ could that be the issue?

Yes, it is possible that a defect in your aftermarket HID conversion could produce this fault code as described in this post: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w211...ode-p2571.html
It could also mean that you actually have a true fault (Intermittent/Erratic) in the Direct Ozone Reduction Catalyst Temperature Sensor Circuit.

This is the first case we've heard of the Morimoto HID kit causing any fault related to the oZone sensor. Following up with Morimoto HQ to see if they've had any reports as well and will advise.

Although I'd be interested to hear how the dealership arrived at that conclusion of fault or if he was just blaming first aftermarket component he saw.

Thanks Michael for the information. Weird thing is my check engine light turned off today... Do you guys think the light will turn back on? Is there a reason why it turned off?

Without knowing the actual cause of CEL you had it's really difficult to say if you are going to get a CEL again.
