Extended Warranty options?
On a car tagged at $24k with low mileage is this something to even consider? Are there third party options that might better price coverage?
One additional year/unlimited mileage $1425.50 (MSRP $2064.25)
Two additional years/unlimited mileage $1968.38 (MSRP $2869.25)

I was told I could purchase the Ford extended coverage option when the factory warranty expires but can only imagine the price will further increase.
Not sure where you got that information. We bought our C300 when it was a year old from a wholesaler. We just bought the extended MB warranty from MB of Austin, no problem. It's in force, I checked with our local dealer.

The New Vehicle ELW tops out at 7 years/100K miles.
The CPO ELW tops out at New Vehicle Warranty + 3 Years*/Unlimited Miles
* The three years is added on immediately if the car New Vehicle warranty has already expired when purchased CPO.
So, although the New Vehicle ELW covers more stuff it tops out faster than the CPO ELW if you drive more than ~14K miles a year.
I got my Benz to drive so I'm doing close to 18 or 20K miles a year so the CPO extension is more favorable to me.

At the prices for a used C300, you may be better off shopping longer and finding one CPO at a good price at a MB dealer. They are pretty much commodities and there's no reason to get all silly in love with a particula car at a Ford dealer. Unless they're selling it cheap, in which case you have to a) figure out why and b) accept the compromises.
Also, I found that the MB warranty extensions priced about the same regardless of the car involved, be it a 30k CLA250 or a $185k S63 or SL63.
So while the extended warranty may be a no brainer on a $100k+ AMG with unobtanium parts and prices... maybe for a CLA, GLA, or C you may be better off thinking of the car as expendable?
I've had pretty good luck getting 3 year old off lease Fords and Hondas to make it just about exactly to the 60th and final payment (and 110k miles) before spewing guts down the highway, and that's like 3 or 4 years past any factory warranty.
So I would say... EITHER forego the warranty entirely... OR go find a CPO at a MB dealer.
I am now contacting Benz dealers in neighboring states to see if their ELW prices are lower than in Florida.
By the way, do you know if it has to be a Benz dealership? Or would it be possible for another manufacturer's dealership to get me the Benz ELW? just wondering

- Accepted at all MB dealerships nationwide
- Always OE MB parts and technicians working on your car
- No deductible
- No waiting for approval unless very expensive repairs
I should mentioned there are also excellent aftermarket warranties ($0 deductible, widely accepted, good coverage), but for those premium plans you often pay "premium" pricing which exceeds the ELW from MB.

Good advice in my opinion.

If you buy the car from a Ford dealer, you can still buy the Mercedes extended warranty from any dealer in the country, check out the extended warranty threads. Some dealers will sell their warranty for just $100 over cost. The MB warranty is considered one of the best as it doesn't have a deductible and they don't have a rep of denying claims or going out of business like some 3rd party warranty companies. So for the MB extended warranty I believe you can buy a 7 year 75k warranty or 7 year 100k. The warranty is also a little cheaper if you buy it in the first 30 days of ownership. You can buy it as long as the original warranty has not run out. And I believe pricing does vary depending on model like AMG models are more.
If you buy the car from an MB dealer and it doesn't have an MB CPO warranty, you can't buy the MB extended warranty or CPO warranty even if it still hast the original warranty left.
Ive been getting quotes for the "84mos/100k" ELW Option.
Most dealerships say the cost is $4750 for "84mos/100k" Option.
Those dealerships claim that this is the set price no matter where I go. Is that correct? Maybe things have changed since some of you last shopped for the ELW.
A few other dealerships I contacted, out of state, have offered $4550.00 (California) and $4000 (Georgia).
This leads me to believe that the $4750 is NOT a set price if other dealerships are offering lower prices. What do you all think?
Also, what is a reasonable price for "84mos/100k" ELW Option? What have you all recently paid for the "84mos/100k" ELW Option? Please share.

And yes, they obviously do discount, it's just that some dealers have a policy of not discounting. You just have the find the ones that do and they're all mentioned in the two threads above.
It's called Route66 and is very affordable, highly rated and long coverage which is also transferable.

I purchased my "84mos/100k miles" from Mercedes-Benz of Athens (in Georgia)
I first emailed and then called John Ledford (jledford@mercedesbenzofathens.com)
I paid $4000, for the "84mos/100k miles" ELW
I hope this helps others.
