2014 C250 Luxury
How 2 add Horse Power 2014 c250

My car, 2014 c250, It's a luxury I believe, It's 4 doors, I'm sorry for not knowing much about my car. That's why I'm here. I want to add HP and throttle response. I made calls to Mercedes dealer and they say they don't sell performance parts, wtf?

So I checked a local business in Orlando, and he said intake for $150 will add 23 hp, but said he googled it, and told me to buy it online and bring it to the store. Jummm I see the trick the business is trying to pull, buy anything because it don't matter, they only care for charging me labor to put anything they can find,

I want to enhance the cars performance from the easy and most inexpensive parts first, to the most complicated and expensive next. I'm against the chip tunnings, I believe the chips are a scam, and since I'm not sure if it is, I won't take the risk, so I want suggestions for real parts I can hear and see,

If you was in my position what would be the first thing you would add or twic to the car to increase HP? Be precise as if you were talking to a 11 year old. Thanks.

Well, for throttle response there are a few options (I actually just recently learned about them). SprintBooster and RaceChip have some chips that attach to your throttle sensor. They basically exaggerate the throttle position for more responsive acceleration. Doesn't add horsepower but supposedly it will make the car "feel" faster. I've never used one though so I can't vouch for them. The concept behind the chips seems sound, however.

Other than that, I've been in the same boat (except with a c300) as you and there aren't too many options. An air intake getting you +23 horsepower sounds extreme to me, not sure what any of the other guys on here would think. I don't think the tunes are scams, but I've never had one so I'm just going off of my own research...

Good luck!

If I were you, I would just leave it as is.

Having said that, if you want to gain performance at minimal cost, I would say chip tuning is the best way for the 1.8L turbo engine from reputable vendor such as OE Tuning.

BTW, another food for thought is that any alteration/modification to the engine may void the warranty.

ECU tune is really the only way to gain some extra power. There's also a couple intake options for the turbo C250s. The other way is to do full straight pipe and make it so loud that it actually sounds fast.

Being a C250 owner I share the concern for throttle response and power. I've optimized my throttle body which has had a positive effect and will be looking to create a bored out version to 62MM or better soon. There are a couple of tune options as mentioned but also the JB+ from Burger Tuning which has received positive reviews on this forum. (And does more that make the gas pedal react more aggressively.) The intake on 1.8L is pretty optimal, so I'm not sure about getting much of a power improvement from a CAI.

The easiest and cheapest way will be to trade in your C250 for a C350. You can tune and change parts all you want, but its much more work and ends up being more expensive.

Pretty widespread misunderstanding about the C250, there are no ECU tunes. The only off-the-shelf options are piggybacks, anything else has to be custom done and there are very few people who have gone down such a path.

Off-the-shelf HP with the C250 is entirely summed up by:
JB+ (and similar such as Armytix Armytron but 0 feedback to be found anywhere)
CAI (I would guess any options cause a loss or no change)
Exhaust

There's also a small pool of mods that aren't for HP:
GFB DV+ (I would recommend)
Sprintbooster and similar

Turbo's have tremendous potential, potential for power and potential for harm. One of the first things I would do is see if anyone has a piggy back that will work with the mods you want to do. If not, don't touch it. Turbo's spool faster with less backpressure, so a high flow cat on the downpipe usually opens up some hidden power without needing a huge change in the tune. Intakes do very little on most turbo cars, unless they are very restrictive.

Twowheelin, I would be careful with the larger throttle body without being able to tune. There are better ways to get power, and that might lean out the car.

You're pretty much hosed, OP. The C 250 isn't a tuner car. Yes, you could go piggyback like JB4, but that's your decision. I am against piggybacks. Go over the Bimmerpost and search JB4 in the engine forums. You wanna put up with that crap, go for it. Otherwise, as stated previously in this thread, there is nothing you can bolt on that will help your performance without ECU tuning to back it up. Maybe one day MB will get with the program and at least offer performance packs for their cars like BMW.
