Upgrading stock halogens on my c300
I don't think there is any room for improvement staying halogen. I plan to go to something like a depo projector headlight assembly and xenon bulbs.
Are these the same kit that you use?

park a factory HID vehicle next to an aftermarket retrofitted one and you will see the difference. there is some light scattered above the cut off for visibility and safety.
these aftermarket kits where it is pitch dark above the cut off are a little ridiculous.
also, in my experience, Morimoto is complete Chinese garbage. (speaking from my own experience, have used their products before.)
soon after the awesome cut off thread, comes the "why are my headlights fogging up", "how come are one of my head lights are out" thread.
OP... i would stick to factory spec, try a different halogen bulb where they will typically sacrifice bulb longevity for performance. before you open this can of worms and get sold up the river.

And just because it's assembled in China doesn't mean it's crap....
comes down to QC. Your recommendation of going with OEM bulb (OSRAM/Sylvania).... manufacturing plants in Penang, Malaysia and Wuxi, China. And Osram/Sylvania is not crap by any means.
Anyways, sorry you had a bad experience with Morimoto, but I do agree with you on an incremental step... I had recommended Philips Diamond Visions as the whitest halogen bulbs out there, but they suffer from reduced lumens. Crystal vision would be a better compromise as they have street legal brightness, but will only be slightly whiter than stock if you value aesthetics more. Many are happy with just an HID conversion kit with their stock halogen projectors, but focal point being the arguably big/small negative. You can always retrofit a projector afterwards if that doesn't meet your desires.
