very cheap power? is it true

hello friends I currently own a c200 w204

and ive read a few things about it , that its identical in every way to the c220 except for the map , and a simple reflash would give me 30bhp increase instantly? very tempting

ive also heard it is exactly the same as the C250 except for a different map and the lack of a twin turbo , of which if I had it remapped and had the stock twin turbo fitted would take me up to around 200bhp , all without any negative effects or additional wear to the engine (as it was designed to do this)
I'm going to keep the car for a few years and if I can get quite a bit of extra power with minimal effort and money (don't want to ruin the engine either) then I want to do it

is the c250 identical I mean truly? same engine internals , same gear box? , is it as simple as reflash fit turbo and I have a c250?

I have a tune on my 2009 C350. Noticeable improvement in responsiveness. I'm glad that I got it.

There are no "twin turbos" on a 250. Is your car turbo? We don't have the 220 in the US market.

If there is already a turbo on your car, the reflash will produce large gains, yes, as it can raise boost pressure and provide a very noticeable increase in power, 30-50hp is not uncommon.

If your car is not turbo, adding a turbo and the requisite parts is not very cost effective, and you would be better off selling your car and buying a 250 in the real world.

Mine is indeed turbo charged it's the same as the c220 but factory de-tuned , I don't know if the us c250 is different but I'm 99% sure the UK model has a twin turbo

None of the 4 cyl engines have two turbos.

I'd suggest you just get the tune done, if your car is already turbo. The raise in boost pressures will probably give you almost the same power as a tuned 250 would have.

The us model must be different , all over the net it says the c250 is a twin turbo , I've even found the turbo for sale , and my Mercedes specialist says it's twin? Very confused I can't think why the us and UK model would be that different?

For our US friends.. these are CDI engines.

"The greenest C-class yet. The C 250 CDI BlueEfficiency, to give it its slightly convoluted full name, which uses a brand-new twin-turbocharged, four-cylinder common-rail diesel engine."

It's not the blue model that came later on , your correct it is the cdi model , but as far as I'm aware that's different as the later model is labeled as blue and has different power outputs

No one in the US market can answer this question, or at least very likely, unless you understand the full diesel c-class lineup.

I am from the US market so I can't give you a 100% definitive answer, but from going off hand, you are right about the c180/200/220. Your tune should be able to bring it up easily as yours is down tuned.

As far as the c250's, they are single turbo but a larger engine, and petrol, but once again this varies between US, Canada, and Europe.

To answer your original question, yes the remap should give you some easy hp.

"very cheap power? is it true?"

Yes it is. I just picked up a C63 AMG for $15k.

And there you have it. The only real answer.

Usually the words power and cheap can never be used in the same sentence. Power costs money.

no mention of sustainability?!

It's like the "quality, turnaround (speed), $$" adage I guess
