Won't Start - Restraint System Malfunction Consult Workshop

Hello
Help need please, car novice here, C220 CDi wont start, get the error Restraint System Malfunction Consult Workshop on key turn. Doesnt even try to turn over.
A couple of days ago I noticed the rear seat belt warning come on even thought the rear seats were empty. When I try to fire it up a coil symbol comes on briefly then all lights click off and on again.
I cant get it to a garage as it wont start and I dont have a diagnostics gadget.
Was going to put it in at the end of the month as service A is overdue. (not even sure what service A is)

Is there anything I can check as I think the actual error sometimes is not the actual problem??

Thanks in advance

I am not 100% sure, but I don't think that fault would cause your car not to start. It could just be your battery is dead. Maybe check that first.

Various electronic modules flocked together in a system, at least requires a stable correct power supply, so the battery is a good start. One subsystem may complain before the other.

Well I had a look at the battery this morning, both connectors were loose, I tightened them up and tried starting the engine but still the same error. I removed the battery and now have it charging.
I'm guessing the loose clamps combined with a bit of cold weather may have depleted the battery somewhat.

Same issue here

I noticed my command system was cutting off and back on while i was driving it. I made it home (at regular speed) took the key out and the car wouldnt go off. Unhooked the battery and yook it to orellys. Bad battery so i brought a new one. Now it wont start turn over anything. Only the lights in the car and iy says restraint malfunction/every now and then it says esp malfunction. What to do? Are there any recalls on this car?

Someone needs to get a proper Mercedes specific scanner and scan for codes as a starting point.

Mine is a C class 2015 and I have this light on - Restraint System Malfunction Consult Workshop - and I don't want to to go to Mercedes as I have Stage 1 done on mine and they will reverse it. Any good ideas of how to sort out the issue?

Who told you that?

Is your car under warranty? (No) Is it leased? (No)

Tell the dealer not to make any updates to your ECU. Simple.

Did you flash the car yourself or send out your ECU? If I need to take the car in, I always flash it back to stock and then reload the flash when I get the car back.

The W203 and W204 C-Class are known to have a problem with the seat belt buckle. The wire that communicates with the restraint system controller breaks. You need to scan your module for codes, but this could be your problem.
