My Vehicle is in for Takata Recall
Just wanted to let you guys know, since we got false ETA's several times and it was looking unlikely to actually get a recall.
My car was checked into international autos today.
Email said 90 minutes, however the dealer said it would take 3-5 hours (primarily due to the passenger front airbag). So, that's that.

Have just been informed the recall has been completed.
Also noted as "Car too low for car wash," lol
Total time: ~3 hours

Lower than that E63S and GT63S? I find that hard to believe and find it totally unacceptable, I hope you reminded them that there is such a thing known as hand washing a car and that their customer-lack-of-service will be reflected in your scathing Yelp review.

I got my letter, I'm just waiting for them to call me and book a time to bring it in! I don't see it happening any time soon

Drop the car off and drive back / get driven and come back later. That's what I did.

I received my notice about two weeks ago. I called them and had it done yesterday. If I remember correctly the notice said it would take about 90 minutes. It actually was about 3 hours.

So the game plan from MBZ was to start with the oldest cars and to focus on those in areas with high heat/humidity. What year is your car and are you still in Wisconsin? Just got back from June Sprints at Road America, and it was certainly not hot OR humid up there!

You should come back for Summerfest as it is now hot AND humid around here.

Got my notice a while back but I upgraded my 2010 steering to a 2012 with paddle shifters so I haven't got mine done yet. Need to put the old steering back. I wonder if they would swap my 2012 steering with a newer airbag (wishful thinking). I'll need to get at least the passenger side done but wow 3 hours is a long time to wait.

Yea but if you're gonna keep your facelift steering wheel then it's pointless, as you will have the takata bag...
I think they would be ok replacing it with a facelift bag (unless facelift is unaffected then you are right)

Ya kinda pointless. And I'm pretty sure they base everything off VIN numbers but might be worth a shot bringing it in with the facelift steering installed.

Is it me or has it been 3 years on the wait list for this to become available? I saw a pic of that lady that got a metal shard next to her eye because of this defect. That's a lot of time for this to potentially happen again. My BMW had it done at least a year ago.
