My axle needs to be replaced i cannot seem to find the right part anywhere. And its discontinued from mb!!! I know there are 2 axle shaft . I need the one that is 4.25 inches from retainer clip to retainer clip from the shaf . Also the axle is attached to intermediate shaft. Can i replace just the axle shaft or does the whole intermediate shaft have to come out. I cannot find any procedures online for my situation. Appreciate the feedback. Here is my vin. I've actually seen that post thanks for the post Unfortunately my car set up is different. My axle is going into a long shaft called the intermediate shaft. It doesnt go directly into the differential and the hub nut is an e24 torx

Update: finally found an aftermarket axle with the 4.25 inch shaft. Waiting for it. Will attempt to use a slide hammer to get the old axle off of intermediate shaft. Couldnt really find any helpful info on removing axle on the 4matic. Hopefully this works

Could you share where you found the correct shaft...just the 4.25"/108 mm piece, right?

How did you remove the driver axle from the intermediate shaft, using a puller?
Mine seems to stuck, will try to heat it first then hammer it out.

Is the intermediate shift and axle off vehicle. ? If so heat should work and hammer the hell out of it. However if it's still attached to upper oil pan then release the snap ring that holds shaft off of upper oil pan don't try to hammer axle off while on car. You will possibly damage oil pan.

[As someone who has broken the upper pan trying to get CV axle off, please, please remove clip and just pull intermediate shaft out before trying to get axle off of it....

Good afternoon all,

I just did all of this and removed the CV intermediate shaft as mine was stuck. Even after taking it out and trying to remove the cup I could not. So I bought a new after market one from ebay, same splines, same length, bearing fit perfectly. Everything went back together easily. Car was running really well before, just changing due to CV axel boots being torn and would not pass inspection due to this.

Now that i have everything back together, and set, I can put the car into drive or reverse and it will idle forward and backward. I can move it out of the garage and back in, but as soon as I touch the accelerator it revs up and will not respond. NOTHING in Drive or Reverse, Like it is in Neutral, but as soon as you shift to reverse or drive it will crawl again.

Any recommendations?

The only suggestion I have is to use a Mercedes specific OBD scanner and see if theres any codes. Your issue does sound very odd to me.
