Search this site for oil wicking into engine harness. This is one cause of misfires, also failed coils can be a cause.
Pull off the cam position sensor connectors and the cam magnet sensors, 8 connectors in total. Use a bright light to see if oil is present.

Try searching these threads. I think I remember seeing a USD4000 estimate, not sure what was included for that price. I am guessing DIY could be done for around USD1000 to replace the sensors and harness. That would be if the ECU is not contaminated.

Intake manifold
Check the intake manifold swirl flaps. They are made of plastic. Mine was broken I sadly had to replace my entire intake manifold. The broken swirl flap was causing misfires. If you find this to be your problem be extremely careful removing the connector heads that stem off the engine wiring harness. I broke a few and it’s cost me a lot.

Hey thanks for replying , because i did a service on it before as well maybe something got broken while it was serviced. do you have a photo of the intake manifold ? so i can see what a broken swirl flap is. and when you were driving was it mis firing as well like little stops and your trying to accelrate but it dosent go fast as it would ?

These are made from plastic and tend to snap at the bottom connecting ball socket. Take a flashlight and look in front of your manifold (there won’t be much room) if you can spot some broken plastic then your flap is broken not giving the engine the proper air mix which causes occasional misfires in cylinder bank 1. If that’s the case part number 2721402401RPRM will solve your problem.

Most common misfire problems are spark plugs and ignition coils. Even some of the sensors. On my car I had already replaced everything that could be causing any basic misfires and that’s when I noticed the swirl flap or intake manifold actuator was broken. It’s a big job to swap out and be extremely careful not to break any wiring harness connectors or vacuum lines (cost me 700 for MB to fix) hope my mistakes streamline your fix. Best of luck.

hey guys update, took it too a mercedes benz specialist did scans they said i have a faulty electronic plate from the tranny. 1500 aud to replace including labour is this correct ???? fingers crossed hope its all fixed

In the US, indie mechs are usually ½ of the MB dealer price for repairs. You just need to find a factory trained and reliable one. You might be money ahead by paying MB for the diagnostics and taking the car to an outside shop. $300 MB diagnosis + $750 repairs = $1050 for $450 savings. Just a thought as I don't know the availability of quality work in your area. If you are uncertain, definitely use the dealer.

hey guys . update. my mechanic said its a electronic plate being faulty and said it cost $1500 to replace including labour part etc. havent heard from him for a week calls me up after 7 days and said that they sent off my electronic plate to be fixed but its too damaged to be fixed now the next cost is going to cost me $2300. Im not sure if im being ripped off or not and all of a sudden my cars going to be ready this afternoon to be picked up. should i get more details on what has been done and what has been replaced i feel as though i have been ripped off

Get a copy of the service invoice with detailed listing of the work (labor) done and all of the parts replaced. Post it on this thread with your personal information redacted for your privacy.

Just got the car back. I havent got the reciept paper work they said they will email it to me so im just waiting on that. i have drove my car home gave it a good thrashing to see if my car goes into limp mode or jerks. i noticed when i step on the accelerator the revs all going really high and not catching on to the speed. is this something i should be worrried about ? he said they changed a new electronic plate and pretty much change all oils in the transmission etc should i jst give it couple days and see how it runs?
